Been ill for the past year lots of meds lots of weight put on due to being poorly with no mobility. Now I’m starting to get better it’s time

Time to loose weight after a years long journey getting pain relief under control with loss of mobility. Getting better will feel much better without this weight following me. Looking forward to getting some good tips with NHS Diets .. Positivity is the key 🔑

Hi Lisa00 and a warm welcome to the forum :-) You sound like you've been through a tough year, but coming through it and ready for change. Here's to you and your first steps!

I just wanted to share with you something that made me chuckle (....and check myself) when I saw your photo. My first thought was: 'wow, she weighs herself with clothes and shoes on!' (I'm usually in my pants, trying desperately to get the numbers down!). Then I thought: 'nice red sneakers'. Oh dear!

Finally, when I stopped noticing your footwear, I realised that your start weight is around the same as mine was, so we have that in common :-) I've been here on the forum for about 6 weeks and have been actively working on being a bit healthier since February. For the very first time, I've been able to break my habit of giving up after a month (at most!) because I'd always been very impatient, and fell off the wagon at the first blip. I have lost some weight, which is great, but my head also feels clearer and I've learned a lot about how I was using food when I was bored or stressed and that feels like a massive breakthrough.

I honestly think that a big part of that switch in mindset has been the support from everyone here. I never had that previously, and my efforts to lose weight always felt quite lonely - but now I don't feel alone. There are loads of lovely people here, who will help and support you whenever you need a boost. And I've loved cheering on others and learning from everyone too.

Sorry for rambling on - I just wanted to make sure that you'll feel welcome to pop in here whenever you might need us!

Thankyou Teagirl for the warm welcome 🤗 You made me chuckle about my pumps but when the doctor weighed I asked him should I take my shoes off TO his reply No it’s ok you can leave them on so that’s y I’ve left them on lol .. yes it’s been a tough year and still on lots of medication still trying to get pain under control so it’s still looking like a long road 😱 only want to be back to my normal self without feeling I should of dropped a baby a few months ago , don’t know how I’ve got to where I am But I’ve gotta get out of it ! Pleased for you to kno Uve shredded some pounds 👌 Good on you Girl Keep it up sounds like u have plenty of help and support on here so that’s really good 😊 I’m not really sure where to start as I’ve never had to count calories before so it’s all new to me and just found that the high fibre I’ve been relying on just isn’t no good , but I’ve just had poached egg with avocado on 1 toast so that’s a start 💫 Thankyou for ur Warm welcome looks like I’ve met another member that goes on 🤣 Wishing You All The Best 💫

Morning Teagirl I was luving the Avocado until I see how many calories was in half of one 😳 settles for oats with abitnof syrup this morning so down on my calories from yesterday already 😊 must say yesterday Being my 1st day was hard with head on google allday looking up calories 🙈 now my eyes are opened 👀 really need to look at deserts today 😋Wishing You a Happy Friday with enjoying those beautiful foods we are allowed 😁 🍓🥗🍐🍋🥚☕️☕️☕️Lol x

Morning! Yeah...avocados are great, but properly calorific, it took me by surprise too. Good to have those healthy fats in the mix though. Thank goodness for eggs!

I downloaded an app called 'Lose It' which I've been using to track the calories. You can also link to your step counter your phone, and keep track of your weight goals. You can scan foods in from barcodes, and repeat foods/meals come up as suggestions too. One word of warning with it though: I've found that the suggested calorie intake is a little low (by about 100 cals per day), so it's worth checking the NHS guidelines too: nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... - once you have your BMI it suggests what your intake should be.

I then make sure I definitely have at least the calories that Lose It recommends...otherwise you're under-eating, and that'll slow down your losses (boo!). That happened to me and I nearly gave up (I got seriously hangry!)....started eating properly, and lo and behold, I lost weight.

Yes u did go on the site and looked at my BMI and I’m classed as Obese 😵😲🤭 I’m going to invest in some sort of step counter but not sure what they have out their yet so another bit of homework for me 🧐 Anyway back to The housework to burn that Fat Away 💫 Determined as ever to shift this rubber ring I’m carrying lol 😂 Take Care and Thankyou for the advice Once Again xx
