I would advise you to use the NHS BMI calculator nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... to find the right calorie range for you. I was around your weight when I arrived here, and three inches shorter but I never had so few calories. If you start very low, inevitably you'll lose weight but then when you "ease up" those pounds will find their way back pretty quickly. You'll be best to start right and stay right.
Forum members use all sorts of different plans and many work on counting calories so, if that's your preferred option, go for it. It's worthwhile bearing in mind that not all calories are the same e.g. 500 calories of pizza won't give your body the same value as 500 calories of an omelette and mixed salad with a tasty dressing

Hi and welcome. I find using this forum helpful and encourage so hope you get a lot out of it too. I have been losing weight by calorie counting and it has been working well for me. The way I do it is using the NHS BMi calculator as it gives the calorie range I need to use. At the moment I am eating 1600kcal a day so I don't get too hungry. It may be a slower weight loss but I find it easier to stick to. My other tips are that I eat a low fat diet (I use slimming tablets prescribed by GP do have to!!) I plan the day before for my 3 meals and find eating low fat means I can eat a good size meal. I make a note of calories for snacks and choose those on the day so I can always have something I fancy.
thanks for the advice my diet is still starting i plan to go up to a higher cal intake when i sort out all the different foods and know what i am doing
I have to say that many of us avoid the low fat approach.
We need healthy fats in our diet to absorb vitamins A, D and K. Any products marketed as low fat or "light" have been heavily processed. Full fat products taste better and are more filling, so you're less likely to eat between meals. When it comes to yoghurt, the "good" bacteria are killed off by stomach acid if they're not protected by fat.
Eating fat doesn't make you fat This explains what does
i have also just joined & used the nhs bmi calculator it said my calorie range is 1700-1900 aday this means i will need to eat more hows that gonna work
