I gave in to hormonal urges and went crazy in the cupboard so I'm 500 cals over today. Not a huge deal as I am 600 cals under for the week but I wanted to use distraction therapy to work through it as these cravings happen every month with varying degrees of intensity.

So - you are under for the week and had 1 day over??
I would call that great!! - You don't have to just think of calorie counting per day. If you are counting and you have a heavier calorie day, balance it out over the week! (Which - you have done almost perfectly by the sounds!).
It's not a mistake by any means - it sounds like you are right on track
Don't worry. If it makes you feel better I had a mega binge day today! Just a build up of stress this week and then only losing one pound despite all my hard work exercising and dieting this week so I decided to have a day off! Started with chocolate cake for breakfast and lunch. Then some chocolate bars (plural) and finished off with a chicken donner and chips takeaway!
Some boys in the government had an argument over the bar about hormones affecting lady drivers a few days of the month - so they set up a quango - and spent millions on research... using males as a control sample.
The report never got published - because it found that hormones affected male drivers most days of the month.
You will not find any trace of any such quango or report.
Absolutely, definitely not ruined! When I was having those kinds of issues (too old now!) I used to forget about losing four days before my period - just focused on trying to maintain or I would go crazy and eat a family bar of dairy milk...I found it really helped just to eat normally and it was a kind of practice for maintaining later.
I did resist so can be a little proud - feel less 'munchy' today and more in control, am wondering if tiredness was a factor too 'cos I was shattered yesterday.
