Hi Alumbwe welcome to the forum. I'm not sure what your kidney function may be at this time or what your particular issue is but as someone who had a kidney transplant earlier in the year I implore you to make sure you do anything you can to preserve your kidney function. This forum is a really friendly place stuffed full of advice for losing weight. Take these tips and use them. All the best.
In my experience, motivation can be approached from two (probably more) angles.
First, identifying your “why”. If you have a really compelling incentive to lose weight (or do anything, really), then you are more likely to get it done. Vanity and wanting to look good to please someone else is usually not that compelling, but if overweight is threatening your ability to have children, your mobility or even your life, and you stare these situations in the eye and really look at the consequences it would have for you to not change, then you are much more motivated to change. In your situation - what would it mean to you and your family if your kidney situation became worse?
Secondly, keeping up a strong motivation to keep going can be difficult, but in my experience it often works to put action before motivation. I have a hip problem and have to do certain exercises every day. I don’t enjoy them but I want my hip pain to go away, so I have to keep doing the exercises. To get it done, I always have my gym mat ready for use and I tell myself “just do 10 minutes, then if you don’t want to finish it, it’s alright” but once I get started, I usually finish the whole set and feel good about myself, having done something good for my body. So - action can precede and create motivation.
I hope it makes sense?
