Im waiting on a docs appointment etc but at the moment I'm dealing with it all myself. .. lots of immodium and avoiding foods that I already know trigger me. I'm bloated a lot of the time which doesn't help with the 'feeling good about yourself' feeling, but it's all a learning process at the minute.
My daughter suffers with ‘non specific gastritis’ and it took a while for her to ascertain the triggers (stress, black coffee and fizzy drinks) but you will get there. Eating a generally healthy diet should help, also portion control. Fingers crossed for you 🤞
Have a good read of all the information and just ask if you get stuck 😊
hi Mrs A - I had symptoms like yours for over 40 years - this January my daughter in law gave me a present to go for an allergy test for foods. It was such a surprise to find out that I had multi food allergies including wheat rye barley -dairy - cows milk casein eggs banana . I went to a branch of Alphega pharmacy which did a finger prick test
painless - then the results were processed by pharmacist and the test sheet indicated what foods to eliminate. I decided I would remove them all . Since then I have been able to lose weight, without the frequent bloating and discomfort. As so much food contains carbs -especially wheat based prooducts hidden in soups, sauces, sausages,
and tin food - the difference within a couple of days of removing food intolerances
was amazing. I am sure it may help your overall health to find out if you have any food intolerances. It may not solve stress triggers for IBS but have found an overall improvement by a change of diet, and a healthy diet. The chemist chain is all over the uk and you can locate their website. They test for over 65 different foods and it does
not take too long.
Hi I manage my IBS by making sure that I do not eat too much of the same food group-especially meat. My IBS is worse when I am stressed. Eat vegetables and ensure that you are eating enough fibre. I hope this helps.
Yes a lot of my IBS is triggered by stress which is hard to avoid lol. My IBS is triggered by foods such as eggs, beans, porridge, Greek yogurt. So I avoid these, vegetables really bloat me but I love veg and obviously need to get enough of my 5 a day in, i'm fine with all meats but try to eat less red meat. Thanks for your reply x
Hi, I too have IBS and Bile Acid Malabsorption, following the removal of my gall bladder, so many foods are off limits for me. Add to that, the fact that I've got arthritis in my lower spine, which pretty much rules out exercise, and I'm just at a loss !! Any hints or tips you could give would be most welcome.
Hello BlueCorfu and welcome to the weight loss forum.
It will help if you have clear guidance about what you can and can't eat, and maybe there are things you can already spot in your eating pattern that would put you on a healthier path e.g. portion size or snacking
