I’ve seen a weigh in electronic machine in boots it gives out all this information and looks like a rocket capsule so should I weigh my self on this are they any good or just a gimmick ??? For smucks I’ll go by any advice after I find out how much to put into it I think it’s a £1 coin and 50p
I’ve brought a new Salters weight scales to start me off but they don’t tell me my BMI every week only weight that’s all I can afford at moment.
I’m a OAP so don’t suggest scales out of my and off my pay SCALE pardon the pun 😂😂😂 thanks From Frank

Personally I've never tried the bmi scales in boots, but I know there was someone on here who used it. If you have scales, you can check your own bmi - you just put in your details and it works it out for you 😊
I'd say stick with your scales. They'll do the job for your weekly weigh-in and you can check your BMI from time to time with the link Joanney has given you.
In reply to "what is it?", it's the relationship of your height to your weight. Two people weighing 14 stone would have different BMIs if one was 6ft 2 and one was 5ft 2. Apologies if that's not what you were asking
The scales in Boots are supposed to be more accurate and can also (allegedly) give you your body fat %. However, I was chatting to my daughters friend who is doing sports science and because you hold it with your hands only it gives a slightly skewed fat %. To be more accurate you should use one hand and opposite foot. As I am top heavy I blame my boobs for a high body fat % LOL 😂
To answer your question, BMI is a very rough estimate of what is supposed to be healthy weight for your height but takes no account of build. At the end of the day, weighing scales and BMI are just one measure of healthy. Use a tape measure, waist to height ratio, mirror, clothes and how much energy you have to measure you progress. 😊
Lots of very good stuff there Anna 😊 the waist to height ratio was an eye opener to me (saw it on the truth about obesity programme) - apparently I need to be a foot and a half taller for that to work 😂🤣 onwards and downwards it is then 💪
I used similar scales in Tescos last week for the first time. I wasn't impressed. I've always been 5ft 2.5ins.It measured me at 4ft 11ins. What a shock! Checked when I got home and luckily I'm still 5ft 2.5 ins. I also have little faith in the accuracy of the body fat %.
Also, Boots aren't going to let you strip naked to weigh yourself. Who wants the extra poundage of their clothes added to their weight?
