I can't find my way round this website.
I am surprised by the negative tone used by some people to other users, noted on several posts.
I can't find the recommended NHS Diet Plan (not that I want it but it would be interesting to read it).

Is that your cat in the pic? He is a handsome gent!
Awwww - that is a photo of our cat Cheilidh, who sadly died fourteen months ago. We have two others, but we still miss her (not a gent ha ha)
The vet always said that she was as big as many male ginger cats.
Always refer back to the Welcome Newbies Post you were directed to when you first joined us Laura healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
This contains links to the 12 Week plan, directions and pictorial guides to finding your way around.
This is a very busy forum and we have to have things filed away or it would be chaos!
Good luck
Anna
I have tried to find things by going to that link but I invariably go round in circles.
I must be too old. Oh well, never mind.
Many of us have done what Anna61 has said and we got on to the site. It as not got any thing to do with age. There are people between 20 and 80 plus on the forum and every is getting support from everyone. I thing you need to Apologise for talking like.
Eh? I was only asking for help. Keep your hair on.
I think you need yours to be put on. I can see you are getting around ok. But I have never met someone on here like you.
Whatever do you mean?
Oh dear.
How can you see that I am 'getting around ok'? Are you able to see me online?
I've never noticed negative tones (well, I remember one person who thought it was her role to put people right but she wasn't here long). I've seen people give constructive suggestions along the lines of "I think you'll make more progress trying X". Mostly it's just encouraging comments. I think it's a good combination of informative and encouraging
That is the same for me marymanc. We help one another with support and encouragement. And gives us suggestions which may help us.
I was given a push about exercise a while back. I know I was being a bit flippant and trivialising my couch potato habits and someone picked me up on it. It was done in a very constructive way and I appreciated it. It helped me make positive changes I probably wouldn't have done otherwise.
I couldn't agree more BridgeGirl and Hidden . I haven't received or seen any negative comments only fantastic tips, advice and support on this wonderful forum since I joined here in June 17. I have been struggling for a wee while now and the support and encouragement from everyone on the forum keeps me hanging in there or I'ld be back to square one plus some.☺
Thank you for your reply. I only meant that I was struggling with this particular website. It took me five years to understand my television remote control device.
The very first reply I had to my very first post absolutely crushed me. I was very upset by it. I was also very surprised.
I have seen quite a bit of negativity, too.
However, the vast majority of posts are extremely supportive.
Oh dear Laura. I too had a bit of trouble finding things. But persevere as I find this usually a positive place to be, and someone will always reply to any points you make. I have the biggest trouble using my phone which I put down to age !
You are welcome Laura97 . I'm not great with technology either but I have managed to navigate the forum with the help and advice provided although I still don't have my head around how my TV/DVD remote works.🤔
Congratulations on your 3 stone loss.☺
I read your first post and reply and what I took from it was support and advice offered on your Healthy Eating journey by a very knowledgeable and supportive member. We all interpret things differently but I personally didn't see any negativity in the reply. It can be difficult online as we can't 'see or read' anyone but this forum is all about positivity and encouragement.🤝👏💟👍
I joined here in June '17 with 6 stone to lose. I have been a yoyo dieter for 35+ years and when I joined here was a wee 5'3", 60yr old Scottish wifey weighing in at 15st 12lbs, the heaviest I have ever been, and not a good look I can tell you. 😱😦 I had planned that I would lose 6 stone in 1 year but my reality is totally different as life gets in the way. However I am still 1st7lbs lighter than 9 months ago and will stick with this Healthy Eating Plan no matter how long it takes. My fellow forum buddies, especially my weigh in day chums, have been an amazing support to me through difficult times. I am following the principles of the NHS 12Week Healthy Eating Plan, counting calories and I've changed the way I eat by absorbing the advice and tips from members on here.👍 I have arthritis in my joints and have gradually started walking 3 times a day with my wee dog for at least 10 minutes each time. I don't like walking either but it is helping my arthritis. Badminton and hockey were my thing but that's what led to the knee problems and genetics play a part too.☹☹
I hope you enjoy the support and camaraderie this site offers us. Wishing you well on your weight loss journey, have a good week and I'll see you along the way 😊
Hi there. I certainly am persevering as I have found almost everyone to be helpful.
The first computer obtained by my school filled an entire room and none of us were allowed to touch it. That is all I meant by being too old. My children don't live anywhere near me now, either, so I haven't my old sources of technological support readily available.
It is worth plugging away, though.
I know that the person who wrote that original response to your first post is going to be totally mortified that it upset you even by the smallest amount. She is one of the most caring people I have ever met and has been a continual guiding light for me and I know for everyone else here.
Her reply was trying to help you understand how long term weight loss can best be achieved in such a way as to reduce the chances of tripping up as many do along the way.
I'm sorry that you took her response negatively as I know she was only trying to give you advice to stop you falling into some of the same traps that we see people fall into.
I'm glad that you're persevering with the forum and that you got out for a walk. It sounds like you showed great fortitude to manage it all.
Wishing you all the best.
Thanks so much for your reply. I appreciated what was said on that occasion and I did think about it very carefully. I never thought that it was written in order to upset me - not at all. I was just a bit surprised, that's all.
What I really meant about negativity can be demonstrated on quite a lot of posts. Anna asks (quite rightly) that we keep the peace, as it were. A great many people have responded to me in various ways, almost all of them being constructive. As for that first response, well, I was hoping for help in overcoming my difficulties in exercising. Many people responded, which was great.
It took me three days to find the Weigh-In page, and I do think that the website could make that clearer for people.
I also had to laugh at the suggestion that abbreviations ought not to be used in posts to 'Newbies', which is, of course, an abbreviation.
But that is splitting hairs.
“also had to laugh at the suggestion that abbreviations ought not to be used in posts to 'Newbies', which is, of course, an abbreviation.”
Hahaha 😂 am I allowed to say LOL or is that another abbreviation? 😜
I know that if there's a way of doing it better then the admins would be willing to listen. Please bare in mind that over 100 people join this forum every week and each person wants something different, many aren't bothered about weighing in.
The idea is that all relevant information has been gathered in one place so that each person can keep referring back to it and a link to that is provided as a first thing to all those that make themselves known. The alternative is that 100 people a week will ask the same questions and when that did occur originally it was chaotic.
If people still have difficulty then there's always someone around to help answer specific questions.
You're not splitting hairs about the abbreviation 'newbie' as it's actually a word which you'll find in any dictionary.
Gorgeous cat Laura97 ! Just like our Sid, whom we sadly lost last August. Sorry you find the tone of some posts negative. I really don’t think they intend to be. We all expect others on here to support us and sometimes that means being straight and honest, but mostly people do moderate their views by saying it’s just their opinion. I personally value the opinions of people who have been here a long while and whose experience (and their badges) show that their advice is sound. So try not to take things to heart, but do think about acting on their good advice and do keep coming back to the forum and ask questions, tell us what you think and how you are getting on. 👍
My other cats will be jealous if I agree with that.
Hope you are feeling happier and more at home now following the replies you have received. The people here are really lovely although no doubt there may be a few who have their own agendas and axes to grind as in any other community. And like in any other social setting, you gravitate to those who are on your wavelength and ignore those who aren't. May I wish you every success on your weight loss journey. 💐
PS I have a big fat ginger cat .....
To find the weigh in any day even if you can't find a link you just have to scroll down the posts and you'll find it as every header will contain the words weigh- in. Hope that helps.
