I hope to encourage you all for your 2018 weight loss journey - 63 lbs loss in 4 months

In Sept, my son went to university and I am not sure what happened to me - perhaps a severe case of "Empty Nest"??? I decided I would change everything in my life that I could; and one of them was my weight. I read the NHS stories about this guy who had tried many different diets and down loaded the NHS 12 week approach. I adopted a hybrid approach suited to my life style and have since then I have lost 63 lbs. Been relatively painless. I plan to lose maybe another stone or so, but hope to get back to the weight I was at when I finished university. Best wishes for the new year!!!

Well done on a successful loss! Goes to show - it is just a case of saying "I will do it" and not making any excuses. We all like a little inspiration to remind us of what we can do if we put our minds to it...

Sorry posted this the wrong place: The approach I took is 200 cals for breakfast, 300 cals for lunch and 300 cals of snacks during day. This was controlled and very healthy. For dinner I ate whatever we were eating as a family. Dinner was not controlled though I monitored volume of food and controlled balance (more veg, less starch). The hybrid comes because past attempts to diet put strain on my family and I wanted to avoid this. Mostly dinner was 600-1000cals. I also started walking 10,000 steps per day! I am still doing this.

This is what I have also done it works really well doesn’t it, especially when you have other mouths to feed.

Well done you on losing so much so far and I wish you lots of luck for the last stone 👏👏👍😊

Thanks for your kind comment!

I feel that it was very important to "own" my diet. I have tried both major diet plans on the market, but felt I never owned them and so drifted from them. This is my own. Yes I have borrowed heavily from others! I felt I that rather than impose a system, I wanted it to be kind to myself and respect the limits that family life have.
