Hello Hidden just so you can read this for yourself. I can't start to imagine how sickly sweet it would be if like you said each bicky had 10 teaspoons of sugar in it. I think someone might be pulling your leg there.

I think what Concerned was warning about was that all carbohydrates convert to sugar as we digest them. Slow release carbohydrates such as whole wheat cereal digests much slower, and satisfy us for longer, but still need treating with caution. 😊

Like all things, balance is key Joggyjade

Have a good day and well done on your new badge 😊 Merry Christmas

I think, for me, I had to do it step by step, reduce added sugar, then reduce refined carbs, etc etc

To change everything all at once would have been very challenging. πŸ˜•

Joggyjade ...4.2 gr of sugar (one teaspoon) equals 4.2 grams of carbs - sugar is one for one carb. Two weetabix contain 22.1grams of carbs - of that 3.6 is fibre - this goes through the body so you take off that figure 22.1 - 3.6 = 18.5 gr carbs remaining. So the number of teaspoons of sugar in two weetabix (the stated serving size) is 18.5 divided by 4.2 therefore 4.4 teaspoons of sugar...I'm not sure how much of this is added 'sugar' as I can't see the list of ingredients. I can't find the original post but thinking perhaps milk was factored into the 'teaspoons of sugar' per serving...no added sugar but the lactose in say half a cup of milk would add another 6 grams ( 5.5 grs for full fat) of carbs or about one and half teaspoons of sugar taking the total for two Weetabix and a half cup of skimmed milk to 6 teaspoons of sugar...like IndigoBlue61 said we're talking slow release carbs here...

I'm so proud of my three pound badge. I think it's a very good start for the first week. I'm learning a lot of information of this website the NHS certainly knows what they're doing. I think it's important that everybody does what's right for them. I really can't wait until next week weigh in. I'm hoping I'll lose another three pound! I'm going to up the antics a little bit and get some more exercise in too!
