I am somewhat confused because MFP says I should be eating 1,320 calories a day and NHS using my BMI says I should be on between 1,733 and 2,278 a day - help!!???

Hi Jiversoo64

I tend to follow the nhs BMI and eat toward the higher end of the calorie allowance. I have lost just over 5st so it must be working well. Try not to eat any lower than 1400 calories as that is the recommended allowance for women.

The MFP tend to give everybody ruffly the same calories. I think it is better to follow the NHS. The MFP also increase your calories according to your exercise and if the times when I did this I didn't lose any weight. The calories change on the NHS with the change in weight. Try rather a calorie amount between 1700 and 2278. And if you want to maintain you try for the higher 2278 - (which you don't want to do ;))

Ah ok that makes sense, thanks, i will go for the NHS count (more to eat too which is a bonus) :)

Try to keep between feeling satiated and not hungry. It is interesting that if you're not hungry you won't cheat but if you skip breakfast or eat too little calories you will make bad choices like chocolates or cakes. Obviously you will get hungry before a meal but no hunger pangs and bad moods.

Ah yes I hate being hungry so will try to avoid that, in a healthy way, at all costs

It's really possible and easy.

I'm doing the same amd have changed MFP goals. But I will ignore exercise calories because NHS goal includes activity. Hopefully a lot easier than trying to keep to 1200 calories

You can override your calories allowance in MFP to match your NHS guide. Go to:

My Home > Goals > Daily Nutrition Goals > Edit > Enter your new calorie allowance > Save Changes.
