There are 9 weeks before Christmas so it could be doable if you stay on track with your plan. :)

You're looking at just over 1.5lbs a week till Christmas so yes you could do it with a good positive mindset👍

Last year I did £1 for every 1lb I lost during Oct/Nov & Dec and rainsed £16 which I bought dog treats, toys, food bowls and took them to my local dog rescue for Christmas gave me a reason not to let them down let alone myself.🐶

I love that idea .....everything I eat will deprive a charity of money I'm sure I'll be more inclined to stick to it

Yes it can be done but it also depends on whether this is your only excess stone, or is it the first stone of several.

At the beginning of a weight loss it is usual to lose several pounds in water weight first of all, then the subsequent loss is fat. However it's very important not to eat too little, otherwise you may deplete muscle as well as the fat.

If this is your final stone to get to a healthy weight (as per your BMI chart) then the loss will be slower about 0.5 to 1 pound per week. That is still a great achievement AND most importantly you are more likely to keep it off longer term ..... after all that effort I'm sure you won't want to regain it all before new year, and that is often the case for people who lose it too quickly.

I took me ten months to lose my excess 2 stone but my body and metabolism adjusted slowly so it was easier to maintain. I've since kept that weight off, and a bit more, for 2 1/2 years.

It is good to have a target date like Xmas or a wedding, but please also think of this as a journey towards a healthy weight for life, not just for Christmas. All the best, lots of us on here to support you 😊

Thank you, it is a stone to get to a weight at which I was happy before what I am supposed to weigh is probably less but Ive had trouble maintaining a lower weight in the past...I'll manage my expectations of how much I can lose based on your advice ....even 0.5 lbs a week will be better than steadily putting weight on though!

Absolutely, as long as its heading the right way.

Btw. If you've had trouble maintaining in the past , was that because you "dieted" then went back to old ways? Most of us found we had more success if , once you get to your happy weight, you just add a few calories a week , very gradually .

Even when starting to try and lose weight, its a good idea to think ahead of not just reaching target but also how you might eventually maintain it.

When you're ready, take a look at some of the Maintainers topics in pinned posts ,
