My favourite meal of all time is the 'Sunday Roast' and am well known in my family for making the best roast lunch. My dilemma is that since starting my journey in March I haven't cooked one........until today! I didn't give it a second thought about making it healthy π± It was delicious π
Is it possible to make a healthy and tasty roast????
Any tips on Roast Potatoes, Parsnips & Gravy?

I could quite happily not cook them, but I'd have a mutiny on my hands! My husband and kids love them and we have the in-laws over at least one Sunday a month. I don't think I'd get away with not cooking it π
On a Sunday for a roast, yes, why not. As for parsnips, I am afraid I only have Aunt Bessie's. I have changed my usual potatoes for Sweet roast potatoes, or sometimes I do roasted vegetables. If you use olive oil these are still healthy
I looooove sunday roasts. As I was growing up, I always considered the sunday lunch healthy, but today is different. If you love them, don't stop having them just adapt it for a more healthier option. Look at your portion sizes and how you are cooking them. We choose leaner meat, steam our vegetables and for roast potatoes (which we love) cut one potato into quarters before roasting so they are smaller and can use olive oil. Enjoy your roasts and if you go over calories, then make sure you have a healthier day the next day or walk off your meal.
Luckily my weigh-in is a Sunday morning, so I have the rest of the week to claw it back π I will try the roast potatoes with olive oil rather than vegetable oil next week ππΌ
I miss my Mums'Sunday Roast. She did the best potatoes - crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Sorry to say that those skills didn't pass to me
Enjoy your roasts Willpower74. Traditions are not to be messed with
I always have a Sunday roast. The flavour is incomparable. Chicken has fewer calories than lamb. O rarely have gravy. Occasionally roast spuds. The trick is to watch portion size.
