Hi, I'm Janet. I'm needing to lose a lot of weight, at least 5 stone. Seems daunting but I feel it's now or never. Looking for recipe ideas that will keep my husband and Grandson happy too.

I have around the same amount of weight id like to lose. I'm just taking it easy and sticking to around 1500 to 2000 calories per day as is the required level. I'm also upping my exercise level gradually. I'm looking at around 1 to 2 lb a week up until Xmas. If I can do this I'll lose 1 stone which would be great. Lots of luck and remember if this do go adrift don't worry just get back on your plan and things will get back to normal 😊
Thank you. Taking up walking again. Aiming for the same kind of loss as yourself. Will take it a day at a time just now.😊
Hi Jancyhopeful and welcome.
Many of us here have been daunted at the start by what we see as the figure on the weight we want to lose. Set your sights on a first target of say 7lbs, and it will seem less daunting, yet it will still make difference to how you look and feel.
And don't worry, there is a whole section here devoted to recipes, which will certainly have something in to please your husband and grandson too.
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, where you can meet other new members, who are also just starting out. . Here's the link

According to the BMI calculator I have to lose over 5st too.. I nearly fainted when I saw that! So I figured that I would tackle one half stone at a time and it seems to be working so far.. i love cooking and my husband needs to put on weight so I buy in lots of calorie filled deserts for him and keep them in the fridge and then I cook the mains.. there are lots of ideas on here for healthy Eating and i look at recipe magazines too. I find that I can usually eat whatever I make for the family apart from things like roast potatoes or chips etc. and I just keep my portions smaller. I always have onions, tomatoes and lots of pulses in the store cupboard because you can make really yummy tomato based stews and things with them.. I also use lots of spices and make tasty curries... Good luck exploring the recipes.. that is my favourite part about this diet.. Just remember to weigh everything! Enjoy!
Hello Jancyhopeful
Although not on a diet My husband has really enjoyed the recipes on the 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book. Sometimes he has rice and potatoes when I don't,
Thank you. That's a good idea. To aim for 7lbs at a time seems moe achievable. I'll use that link.😊
