Calorie intake

I`ve checked my bmi again recently and it says I should be eating a minimum of 1575 calories, I usually manage 1400. Is this making a difference to my weight losses? Should I be eating more?

Yes - I tried to eat less and didn't loose weight, after advise on here I started eating within the range and found the weight came off, I have now maintained and therefore I have reduced my calories by 100 for the following week

My range is 1463 - 1881 and I started at 1700 and now down to 1600 :)

Hope that helps :)

I know that is what I thought when I started and couldn't believe it when it worked :)

Wishing you all the best :)

The fact is that everyone is different and the only way you will find out is to give it a go. Try it for a week or two and see what happens. I had to do the same thing to find what worked for me. However, if you are not counting everything precisely then what you think is 1400 could easily be 1600. Good luck with it. James

this is very true. also I have found there can be massive variations in calorie counts for the same food item in My Fitness Pal. It pays to check a few different entries to see if they are all similar before just selecting the first one that pops up.

My range says 1500 to 2200!! Scared numbers!

Why not start in the middle (1800-1900 ?) and see how it goes? At the moment I am sticking to 1400 and it seems to be working okay for me but then I can be a bit lazy when it comes to counting cherry tomatoes so I may well slip over a bit in which case I should have a 'margin of safety'!
