Hi, need to lose at least 2 stone by end of September. Is this possible?
I'm new to this! : Hi, need to lose at... - Weight Loss Support

Hello Wwooler1.
Perceived wisdom here is that by losing 1 - 2lbs a week, this will make weight loss sustainable. Given that you have about 12 weeks to go then it's conceivable that you could be within reach of your goal.
When an administrator replies to your post, it's worth taking the time to read everything they mention as it has all the tools required for you to get what you want.
Good luck!
Hello Wwooler1 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask
Best wishes
Anna
Hi its 12 weeks so based on the the reccommended weely weight loss mentioned by Tiggerr, you have 12 weeks to loose 28lbs so 2 stones by the end of September is unrealistic you should be close to it if you manage to loose 2lbs a week, but hopefully you will have lost at least a stone by then, which is still good. What you will loose each week will vary- it could be 0-3lbs, but it is importatnt to try and keep your focus. Have you decided how you will acheive this?
maybe aim for 1stone to start with and see how you get on.. then aim for another after that... sometimes when you aim too high its just seems so hard to reach and you give up... where as breaking it down into manageable targets makes it easier to achieve.
Not impossible to lose that amount of weight but I don't think it would be sustainable. Weight lost quickly tends to go back on, so slow and steady is best. Like the others have said 1lb-2lbs a week is a good weight loss. Enjoy the forum and good luck with your weight loss journey.
It's easily done - I have lost a stone a month for the last 3.5 months.
The formula is simple - keep calories way down, I can't tell if you're a man or a woman, but for a man, limit yourself to 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day, maybe a little more if you are a woman.
Aim to burn off 750-1000 calories a day. I find a gentlish jog (6 miles in an hour) loses 1k calories, but you might be lighter than me, and if so, take a back pack with 25lbs in it (wrap a dumbbell weight in a towel).
By September you will be 2 stone lighter.
