Try not to beat yourself up over a few sweets! Just move on as it's done now and you can't change what happened so draw a line under it and move on. If you don't want the surgery then use it as a motivation to stay on track, you can do this!

Try using the Daily Diary for a week to help you stay on track as it makes you more accountable with what your eating.

I agree. Charley65 you can stop kicking yourself now. You confessed and you admit the problem. That is probably the worst.

Think carefully what triggered it. For example I realized when I'm talking on the phone I walk around and eat small sweets or crumbs or even sugar! Now I try to sit down when talking on the phone. It keeps me from walking around and mindlessly munching.

We definitely can do this the healthy way.

I keep meaning to use the daily diary but keep forgetting I need to get into the habit. The surgery well this is the 3rd time its been suggested each time I have point blank refused it and although its not a road I want to go down something in my head is telling me perhaps as this is the 3rd time they have suggested it perhaps I should think about it. x x -:)

Put it behind you Bettyboop64, tomorrow is a new day. I'm sorry to say that, if you really can't resist the sweets, it may be best to ban them altogether. If you don't buy them and they aren't around to tempt you then you can't succumb to temptation. I had to do that with cake and biscuit and chocolate because I couldn't eat "just a bit" and would devour a whole packet of biscuits or family sized cheesecake in one sitting given half the chance. I ended up cutting added sugar totally out of my diet and it's one of the best things I ever did. Now I don't miss the sweet stuff one bit.

You can do this; surgery is surely a very last resort and we're all here to cheer you on. x

I did the same, some 35 years ago, I completely cut sugar from my food regime (don't like the word diet) I only ate fresh fruit. I was so addicted to sugar and felt it was causing me problems, making me hyper. It took only 3 weeks to stop craving, and my taste buds became so sensitive, even grapes are far too sweet for me these days.

Good Luck Bettyboop64, you can do this and without surgery. could you get a phone buddy? I'd happily be your phone buddy if it would help you reach your goal. x

Hi Sue I like the idea of cutting sugar out albeit hard to start with I will have to try it. I'm happy to be a buddy not sure how it will work. x x -:)

Hi Bettyboop64, one day of excess is not going make much difference.

I knew a lady who had a lot of weight to lose. She was advised by her Doctor to eat whatever she wanted once a week to keep up her Metabolic Rate. Maybe you can put all your sweet craving into one day?

Or, try having zero sugar or anything sweet for 2 weeks which can be enough time to lose the taste for sweetness. I use Xylitol instead of sugar. It is expensive even in bulk, tastes just like sugar, no nasty aftertaste. Warning, too much is laxative! Start at 1 - 2 teasp. a day.

Best of luck.

Hi Thanks for your reply. I don't take sugar in drinks at all just seem to have a craving for sweet things some days more than others I have thought about going sugar free perhaps I should try it for a week or two. Interesting what the Dr has said about eating what she wants one day a week. -:) x x

Hi, I do hope you can get into the right mind-set. Maybe for 6 days a week replace buying sweets with something healthy that you enjoy; carrots, celery, Romaine lettuce. xx
