Morning Dog74

If it is a regualr place you go have a look at the menu as some places have the calories on them and pick a healthy option or smaller portion so not so high in calories. I have a family meal every wednesday and have managed to include this into my healthy eating by reducing my calories during the day before the meal.

Hi Dog74! I understand how you feel. my husband says one minute he wants me to lose weight and get healthy then the next can we have steak and potatoes for dinner. is there any healthy alternatives to eat wherever you are going out for dinner? also, I recommend drinking a huge glass of ice water before you go to help curb your appetite, it works for me. the thing is, I worry about you concentrating so hard on losing weight (which is of course the goal) and not so much changing your life style. that is my problem. I have been a member here for a long time and go long times without posting (this is my first in many months). I find that when I post more often, I hold myself accountable more and stick to my healthy lifestyle of good eating. I am terrible at letting people tell me to eat this or that, one time wont hurt me, instead of standing up for myself and telling these people that I have a healthy way of eating now and do not want to undermine myself. I think if you stand up for yourself more, you will feel more confident in your choices to be healthier and will feel sooooo much better. Good luck and chin up!

Hey. This is a difficult one, as I don't know what your relationship is like with your hubby. Eventually you have to have that conversation, you know the one, "I am trying to lose weight, why do want to make me eat fish and chips?" If I was saying it there would probably be a few more swear words in there but you get the picture right?

If you don't let people know the effect of going out to eat this unhealthy rubbish is having on you they will keep doing it! I know at Easter there were lots of posts about husbands buying Easter eggs for girls on diets! If I was on a diet and my wife bought me an Easter egg, I would thank her, give her a kiss and then throw it straight into the bin! I suppose you have to let people know that, right now I am on a diet and I need your support. You can hammer home the point by going out for a meal and just drinking water while they scoff the food!!

Katy9617 is right about being accountable to yourself. Its a lonely place being on a diet and you just have to really put yourself out. It does seem that people want you to fail. You go round a friends house who knows you are on a diet and they have baked a cake??? Be strong and keep believing.

I sometimes think that they offer you cake etc when on a diet because they think you are missing it and probably think that it's okay for you to eat if someone else has told you it's okay. i'm not saying it's right, but I think it may be misguided support
