I have finally given myself the kick up the bum I needed, joining here to lose some weight and get back my confidence. I have given myself so many excuses not to lose weight over the past few years. I moved to a different part of the country and put on a stone. My mum died and I put on another. I didn't do as well as I hoped in Uni and put on another. I gave up smoking and put on another. I got a boring job and had to nibble to keep me going. I gave up drinking diet coke. All the time I knew I was getting fatter but I was in denial. I joined a gym and went three or four times a week. But after each session I celebrated by going for a pub lunch or afternoon tea. I'm currently looking for a job so I now have time to cook properly and exercise, but I treat myself when I feel down to cake, chips, pizza etc. Or a bottle of wine a few times a week. Last night when I got undressed I was mortified to see and feel on from a sore under my bell over hang and another in my leg crease. So today I am very grumpy, tearful and angry with myself for letting it get this far. I have so often given myself the excuse that everyone should like me for who I am, not what I look like. But I look and feel the worst I ever have and I don't want to be this person anymore. I want to like me again. So here goes, lets get healthy.

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
When you feel you're at rock bottom Jane, then the only way is up! 😊 That's the good news. The less good news is that it's not easy, none of us will pretend that, but "nothing good comes easy" as someone once said. But you're in good company, if anyone can give you the support you need, it's the folk on this forum. Between us, we have so much experience and good advice, you can find the answer to any question here. But more important, we have all been there to a greater or lesser extent, we will celebrate when it's going well for you, we won't judge, just commiserate when it goes wrong - and it will, life just gets in the way sometimes - but we will be here to pick you up again and set you on your feet.
Read through some of the stories here, they are inspirational, and just hang on to the thought that if they can do it, so can you! Good luck! 😘
Hi Jane I'm sure a lot of us on here can relate to how you are feeling but you sound like you've hit rock bottom. One thing you get on here is some really good support. So I wish you well on your weight loss journey 👍
