Hi im amy! Im 27 years old with a 2 and 3 year old who are my main reason for needing to loose the weight other than my depression being made worse by how i look, so iv decided to take the bull by the horns. My current weight is 123.3kg and my BMI is 40.1

Hoping this page can give me the support I need and my GP doesn't seem too bothered at the moment.

Hi Amy. This is a great place to start your journey.I hope you'll follow the advice on the forum. I also struggles with depression and every year in April-May I take a huge dip. I tried everything. This is the first year in 15 that I'm not depressed. I'm amazed. I think it's due to my exercise, healthy eating and finally doing something about my weight.

I hope the healthy lifestyle will help this winter for my asthma as well. I'm a afraid of the winter because last year I ended up in hospital. Best of luck.

Hi and welcome, Amy :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

you have taken the right steps in getting help and support! ask as many questions as you need to, ask for help if you hit a low, sing your heart out if you hit a high!

my couple bits advice are to join a weigh in group - you can choose which day - you may as well have a search for todays as you've already stated your weight, then weigh in every Wednesday....

have a look at the daily diaries for some inspiration and ideas about meals

stay active on the forum, you can help others as much as we can all help you. guaranteed when you are having a bad day, 100 will be having a good day and be able to support you!

I have never gone through depression thankfully, and I have 3 kids so I'm very lucky, I can't imagine how hard it must be with two littles ones that age but as WinWeight said, exercise and a healthy diet can help a lot so I hope this works for you!

good luck!x

People here are so lovely, trying to lose weight is something I've always felt so embarrassed about, but joining here has made me feel like we're all working towards a goal together. I feel like GP's barely have time to do anything these days, it's a real shame for the poor NHS :(

Best of luck, starting is the hardest part x

Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding despite the fact that my fiancΓ© and I haven't set a date for our wedding yet. I am currently following Slimming World but weighing in at my mum's house instead of going to the meetings. I have lost 7 1/2lbs in the last 5 weeks. I love the forum and I appreciate the support that I get from other forum members as well as family and friends.
