Some really interesting posts about sugar if you look in the topics section. Since I have been eating healthily I find that any vestige of a sweet tooth has gone, I really, really do mean that. If I wish I can just have one chocolate, but rarely bother, there are many more exciting foods to eat.
Hi awintersgill my heart goes out to you - hospital shifts are so hard and I imagine that there's lots of sugary snacks around you at work so you will need to keep motivated. I have found this forum really helpful in keeping me going and particularly the daily diary. There's lots of advice about how a menu of lots of good ordinary wholesome foods at a slightly reduced calorie count can really result in long term change and weight loss, rather than a short term "diet". I send my very best wishes for your success and look forward to seeing your posts.
Hi I work long shifts so on my days off I do a mass cooking session- pasta, chilli and curry sauces mainly but occasionally roast veg and divide the portions into 4 (usually) freeze them ready to take into work. I have found it beneficial to plan my meals for the week and then I can defrost the meals as required and then add the pasta, rice or couscous when they have defrosted so I have a main meal at lunch time. When I get home (8pm) I have a sandwich, veggie burger, hotdog or soup depending on what calories I have left. Nights a bit more of a challenge but tend to stick to 3 meals a day whether I am about to start nights or in the middle of them. Breakfast in the morning, main meal when I get up or mid afternoon (if about to start) and usually something light such as homemade salsa and dippers (popchips) breaktime whenever that maybe, but I usually go around 12mn.
This forum is really friendly and supportive and any questions there is usually someone who may have an answer that you can try
