Hi mrsnice21

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

I don't follow a diet but I did the following

Cleaned my cupboards of bad food... Sugar, pasta, rice, bread, any ready meal, canned food, crisps went to the bin

Filled my fridge with fruit, vegetables and good quality meat. Eggs are life savers too

I will tell you what I eat in a normal day

Morning mushroom omelette ( 3 eggs to which I add an extra egg white you can buy it ready separated at the shop) with 2 tomatoes and about 150grams Cucumber on the side

Snack One banana

Lunch chicken breast / salmon/steak with vegetables ( fresh or boiled)

Snack One apple / carrot and pepper sticks

Dinner homemade vegetable soup / steamed vegetables and grilled meat

I try to save some calories by drinking only water, cutting down a lot on alcohol. No more sugar in coffee or tea. No fizzy drinks. No fresh juice as it contains sugars.

Meat can be of any kind as long as it is lean. Eat healthy, cut down on bad calories and move more and you will see a change in no time

Sounds like an excellent eating for life plan Thegirlabouttown absolutely sustainable and not a diet word, or product in sight.

We have to want to change for ourselves and I think being in charge of, and responsible for, everything we eat is the way to go.

What helped me was changing the way I use the word diet. Your changing your diet. Had to do it in bits

1.stop the alcohol. Waste of kcal

2.stop the bad snacking

3.stop the snacking

4 eat at a good time

5. Stop buying proccessed stuff even if it say good for you.

6 find out how many kcal you can eatto maintain and that is your target.

7 reduce your consumption by a small amount

8 your screw up target is the maintain old target

9introduce a little excise

10 a screw up is a delay not a failure.

11 Keep a record

Diets can make you lose weight but when you reach your wanted weight and return to normal diet, it will all go back on. It needs to be a change of lifestyle, this also allows you to eat all the macro your body needs and improve your health. A lot of diets won't allow you to have certain foods and they are important for your body. Healthier lifestyle is easier to maintain, you don't get bored of it as it allows you to eat pretty much anything ( as long as it is not junk) and it improves health.

My sleep has improved, my health has improved, my skin is looking better and I have more energy. The results were slower than if I were on a very strict diet but I sustained the weight loss.

Some days I might have a snack ( yesterday I had a doughnut) but today I was back on track and not feeling guilty, having a snack now and then is okay. We all have bad days and good days
