First big day of a reducing overweight body! Does anyone know of a reliable website that will calculate my daily calorie input, please? I've just been diagnosed with high blood pressure, so I'm starting with a little more exercise and a little less indulgence. Here we go!

Calorie information
Hi and welcome, V1v0
Most people use the MyFitnessPal app, to keep track of their calorie intake, which is free. I would advise that you ignore it's recommendations for the number of calories you require though, as it tends to be a bit stingy!
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
If you are a smart phone user MyNetDiary is a great free app you can get on your phone, really helpful for logging daily calories and has a barcode scanner so you can find foods . It also gives you a calorie allowance for the day, which can be increased with exercise....quite useful when it turns red when you go over !
I found the whole calorie counting business very difficult , and dull! But this helps to simplify it and it's really useful , as long as you truthfully log everything!
That sounds pretty good to me - thanks for your recommendation- I've taken note!
I'm a Myfitnesspal fan for sure and love how it also links to my fitbit as well.
I've found the calorie allocation to be OK personally and and you can change the settings so it gives you a little more each day but I am not sure as I get closer to my goal whether it will need to be tweaked a little more.
I like it's website version as well .
Love MyFitnessPal
Use it, don't cheat add everything that goes in your mouth and you will gain better perspective on food choices
Thank you, Lavendergirl, no cheating I promise!
Hi V1v0
I use my Fitbit to count my calories. It's helpful that I can log the water I've drank that day, how many steps I've done, my heart rate and sleeping pattern 😊
Great tip - thank you!
