So from being a very active and athletic woman I find at 70 years of age I need to lose 2 stone and can hardly walk this week, never mind join a plan to jog 5k. My mobility is much reduced and although I long to walk, swim, do the garden, decorate a little, the reality is that one busy day will clean me out for a week. And that reality is pulling me into a depressing place.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get to grips with the NHS diet and stay motivated sufficiently to get some weight off and smile again? Thanks for reading. Pat

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Sorry to hear that your mobility is as reduced as it is. From a weight loss perspective that shouldn't be an overall hindrance. When you calculate your BMI it will provide you with a range of calories that will allow for a healthy weight loss. Apart from age, sex and height which are contributing factors to your bmi, it also takes into account your level of activity.
If you're 'happy' calorie counting then start a daily diary of everything you eat. It helped me to keep within my calorie limits but also showed me why there were days when I sailed past it.
As moreless mentioned, it can help to join one of the daily weigh-ins. Wednesday's one can be found here...
Motivation can be a very personal thing but you will also find lots of friendly and helpful people here that will support you through good times and harder times.
