Weekend binger.

I want to loose 2 stone. Like so many people, i struggle at the weekends. I can be fine all week, avoiding any junk, alcohol etc but by Friday night i fall off the wagon and want to eat anything and relax with a drink. So i end up undoing all the good i have done in the week.

I can average 3-4 lbs in a week but iften gain it all back again, so im yo-yoing which js really frustrating. I lack the motivation to get past the weekend but i really want to do it. I have pretty stressful job and lookmforward to weekends. Also lots if socialising which is pretty hard to avoid.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi and welcome, Nellie :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us on any day except Monday, as that day is over subscribed. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi. Are you losing weight over the week overall? If so I would weigh on a Friday then you could go up over weekend and down on the other days to be down overall. If you are not losing over a week then you will have to reduce your calorie intake so that you have the deficit needed to lose weight (think 3500 deficit calories = 1lb loss ) good luck, we all find it hard at different times 🤞

Hi Ella, thank you for your reply. I didnt know about the 3500 calorie deficit. I find that i am just cancelling out the loss i made over the week but i do know that i need to continue through the weekend with the calorie reduction. Being part of a group will be a positive thing for me. Thanks.

Hi Pinknelly have you thought of trying the 5:2 eating plan. If you can restrict your calories to between 500 & 800 on 2 days during the week and continue as normal the rest of the week you should cover yourself for anything you have over the weekend as long as you don't go too far. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

Hi Pamton, to be honest i have only tried general calorie reducton over all, portion control works and reducing carbs. The usual things i guess. I know people who have had a lot of success with the 5:2, but i think i would feel so hungry on that regime. I will have a look in to it and all the oher advice on this site. There is so much that i can read about here. Thanks for the advice.

I also thought that I would be very hungry on the days I restricted my calories and was surprised to find how well I managed. I ate lots of salad and home made soup which were filling without being too many calories. The other good thing for me is that on the other 5 days I can eat cake or chocolate and not feel guilty. Also the health benefits have been good, especially my cholesterol levels, which is why I started it.

That makes sense and i love the home made soup suggestion. I think i would have to avoid cake totally, especially at the beginning, one slice and im lost.

I think you are right Pinknelly i think on the 5 days you would still have to be mindful - i don't think Moseley says you can have what you want so if one slice of cake would lead to another it's best not to go near it.

Hello and welcome

I also have struggled with weekends. I learnt from the great people here to plan it out and try to stick to the plan. If you can't then dont stress it, pick up where you left off and continue the journey. Of course for better results sacrifices have to be made.

I am thinking of sleeping through the weekend and waking up Monday mornings so to avoid temptation 😂😂 or 2nd option having my gob wired shut 😲😲

There is no magic wand it just takes will power and perseverance, both of which need to be learned in a new way.

Good luck on your journey

Hi Janpes, i couldnt agree with you more. I know myself, and the community will make a big difference to me. I have been trying to do this by myself, which i know i have to in the end, but having like minded people will give me the encourgament i need. Either that or i will go for your plan of sleeping at the weekend so that i cant eat anything.
