New beginnings
Hi and welcome, AreWeThereYet
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey

Welcome AreWeThereYet you've come to the right place! All the advice and support that you could ever need, and all free! Sorry to hear you're on meds, but obvs for the best at the moment. Good luck with your healthy eating, can't wait to read about how you're doing...xx
You have come to the right place lots of help I only started a couple of weeks ago but everyone is great. I would keep a food diary, I do this it really stops me over eating and measure yourself as I find the scales are not always reliable especially if you start exercising. I weigh and measure myself sometimes the inch loss doesn't always reflect on the scales. Good luck with your journey as that is what it is not a diet never use that word it's a journey to a healthier you.
Hi AreWeThereYet the good news is losing weight and exercise can help a lot, even reverse it completely for some lucky folks. I am trying the DASH diet to try to get the BP down before I have to go on meds. I have had some lower readings since January but I still get higher ones too - just more lower ones than I had before. I am certainly not there yet but it has encouraged me to keep going. Good luck!
Welcome to the forum. I love your name! Look forward to seeing your updates, best of luck
Don't worry about the BP meds, it's not always a reflection that you " did something wrong" .
Some people need blood pressure control no matter how slim they are.
I was prescribed meds 8 years ago, when I was two stone overweight. Then later on I did lose the weight, walked everywhere, ate healthily for a year, and thought I'd be fine without the meds. Stupid. My BP shot back up again.
Two years on and I'm still maintaining my lowest weight in thirty years, but I still need the BP meds... and they're keeping me safe so that's ok.
But welcome aboard the weightloss train, there are LOTS of good health reasons why you should try and get yourself to a healthy weight , your heart, your cholestrol, your joints, your self image etc etc and BP is just one of them. 😊
Well done for joining us on the forum AreWeThereYet it is a most magical place with so much support, inspiration and motivation.

Make it an enjoyable lifestyle change, not a diet, and an adventure with food.
Good luck.
