I've been doing the 5/2 diet for a long time and still need to loose 5 stone. I'm considered combining the 5/2 with Orilstat (if that's the right spelling). Has anyone else tried this? Any advice?

5 2 and fat binding drug
Hello and welcome! I dont know anything about Orlistat I'm afraid. How is the 5:2 diet going? Have you lost much so far? My best advice is not to lose weight too fast (2lbs a week is good steady weight loss) because otherwise it'll just come back - it takes time to learn new good habits which last a lifetime. And to be active on this forum - its such a good way to be motivated and accountable. Good luck,.
Thanks for the support, I did loose about 3 stone having been diagnosed diabetic two years ago, but the weight loss has ground to a halt and my gp is suggesting medication to loose more.
I used it some years ago. Don't stray far from the toilet!! I wouldn't use it unless your health needs it. It stops some vitamins being absorbed and also these days I believe sugar is enemy!
Well done for losing 3 stone! You could maybe try a different diet - could be that your body has just got used to 5:2 and so it's not working anymore. Have you looked at the nhs 12 week plan? I did that and I've continued calories counting - it's good for learning portion control and nothing is banned. Good luck
Hi and welcome, Crodiet,
If you type Orlistat into the search box in the top right of your screen, you'll find dozens of posts about it. I have to say, that I, personally, wouldn't consider taking it.
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Thanks for the quick replies, a lot to think about
