Hi there

I am new to this site, and am wanting to start losing weight and making a change in my life to support this.... i find that my motivation is good for a week or two then i get a little lost..... it doesn't help that i have recently moved to a new area for work and don't have many friends or family to support me.

Any suggestions

Hi and welcome, Andy :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Have a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi Andy! Great photo, you clearly are not afraid to give things a go. On my list for this year is to do the zip wire in Wales which I think is the longest one in U.K. Previously I was too fat to be allowed on! My advice would be to measure yourself at the start so you can see progress. If you can keep going for a month you will see results - on the scales and on your belly! Plan all your meals, don't snack! Are you single? I ask because if you are then you have only yourself to think about and no excuse for having junk in your house! Good luck 🤞

Hi Ella - Thank you for the warm welcome it has made my day. Yes i am single and am moving house soon so am having a good clear out at present. That's a good idea about measuring myself, although i kind of cringe at the thought of it..... but your right it is the only way to know if i am making progress or not. The zip wire sounds fun... where in wales does that then?

North Wales I think, i just googled it, it says it is fastest and longest in Europe but still in for a penny. What area you moving to? Being active on here really helps but you have to be determined or you will fail. People in here are really supportive cus everyone has similar needs or has been in same position. If you lose some weight you will be even more gorgeous for when you want to meet someone new.

You could try joining a slimming group in your area, to get support and make new friends. Also, you could try going to salsa or ballroom dancing classes - apart from the good exercise there is usually a shortgage of men, so a big fuss will be made of you!

Not what you're looking for?
