Joining in last desperate hope that this time i just might succeed. Been toying between slimming world and calorie counting the past few weeks but not had a great success - I just love food and have limited spare time or motivation to exercise - mainly as i'm very self conscious and although i would love to start running i doubt I could pass the top of my road without collapsing! Need inspiration and a food buddy.

Want 2017 to be different!
I'm in the same boat! On week 4 of 12 initial plan, 5 stone to lose, lost 12lbs, weigh Wed. I love food too, but use to piling up my plate, now my meals look more SuperChef, with my drizzles of gravy or sauce ect and tiny in comparison portions one way to change is to get bodily smaller, I've kept exercise to minimum, until eating properly, I like swims, walks and my yoga and now expect to soon start wearing clothes a size smaller, than at present, I'm 5ft 9 and 68yrs, good luck to you, and forgive me if I text the obvious..its good to text!
You seem to have a good attitude to this and to have made sensible and not impossible changes. Feeling more motivated now than ever. Going to take each day at a time as long journey but here's hoping for a great outcome.
thanks Dips, you know what they say the first steps most important, when continuing the journey, ive had a cold this week, done verylittle exercises or walks, hope for a better week in that respect. plan is to up the walk, a swim, and continue with home yoga by next Wed, oh and plan my eating plan, stick to it,no ifs or buts, be strong ..ect..and be happy of course, and calm down
Hi and welcome Dips
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hello and welcome Dips62 ☺ Have a good look around and ask if you have any questions ☺
Best wishes
Anna
Hi Dips62 and welcome.
I'm just throwing it out there but you might have trouble finding someone here who doesn't love their food There's nothing I don't eat and drink that I didn't before but like ary88 says, the meals look more like SuperChef. There are other ways so its down to what suits you.
I wouldn't get too hung up about the exercise part of this at the moment. If you read the NHS 12 week plan, it doesn't suggest even thinking about that until week 2 (I think) and then its about easing yourself into it.
Good luck!
Hi Dips, I have only just started the journey too. I was going to join SW (again) with a friend but I know that it doesn't work for me (don't like the meetings really) and they would end up richer than me. I found the 12 week plan from the NHS nhs.uk/Livewell/weight-loss... and am doing it. Not just trying. Everything comes down to calories it seems to me. I love food and the odd tipple too. I am looking at my usual food and making it more healthy, so smaller portions of carbs but loads more veg and a watchful eye on how much meat I eat. If you want to start running (not sure I'm brave enough yet) then there is a Couch to 5K group and app that helps you to get there, healthunlocked.com/couchto5k
All the best
You're so right I've joined every slimming world in the area at some point in the past but going it alone now. Good luck to you. Let's get there this year!
Welcome Dips62 . If you want enough you will find the willpower! Good luck
I would really recommend the NHS 12 week weight loss plan with MyFitnessPal to keep count of your calories ... As well as Couch to 5k (it's another free app from NHS Choices ) Good luck 🌻
Good luck Dips, I'd really recommend c25k to break you gently into running..
