Hi and welcome, Tommygirl :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

Although the majority of our daily weigh-in's are now quite full, we still have some spaces and Sunday's is very quiet, you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hello, welcome! A best way is to start small. Don't look at the three stone. Rather try to set smaller goals. If I look at the large numbers I feel lost. But week to week I try my best and I am going onwards and downwards. Good luck. Go look at the nhs weightloss site. There is so many hints and tips. You can't go wrong.

Hi Tommy Girl ! Journey of a Thousand Mile begins with a single step... Just focus on each day and enjoy the journey...

Focus on each day.. Love your resolve.. love yourself... get connected with positive people who support you.

Love your food... love your exercise.. walks... love going to gardens and parks...

Don't climb on weighing machine every day...

Focus on consuming more of natures food like fruits, veggies, water, salads... Have this an hour before meal.

Eat slowly.. eat mindfully.. zenhabits.net/what-is-mindf...

Follow this and you will see a major transformation in you...

Climb one step each day and slowly you will see results... Do whatever it takes to become healthy and fit.

Focus on each small habit and keep pushing and moving ... bit by bit..

Wish you all the best.. .Happy Journey :)

Welcome! I wrote almost exactly those words 3 months ago when I started here. I'm now exactly half way!! Still a way to go but it feels very achievable. My next mini goal is to lose 4lb in Feb, and after that to reach a healthy bmi (a further 4lb) by easter. Breaking it down into manageable clear goals has been brilliant, and each milestone I have had a non food reward. I had a haircut for half way, and think a massage for healthy bmi. Have you looked at the nhs 12-week plan? It's sensible and easy and I have not felt hungry doing it. I remember standing in your shoes and feeling so daunted - just get going, one day at a time, and you'll get to your destination. Good luck!

Ps there's a weigh in today - Sunday - why don't you join it as your weekly weigh in group - share your start weight and goals and introduce yourself

hey Tommygirl and welcome! all great advice as always from the members here. my thought is to make a food diary. I know it can be a pain in the you know what but it is the number one tool that helps me. I have had to start over, but once I started keeping track honestly of everything I ate in a day, I was able to see where I could cut some very unnecessary calories out without feeling hungry. I still eat Cheetos sometimes, just not the whole bag. I limit myself of these "treats" and eat more veggies and fruits, lean meats and healthy carbs. I promise if you set a small goal like was mentioned before, you will do it! if you look at the whole thing, you will be so daunted that it will be harder to start. I find that getting started is the hardest part but once you put yourself out there, you have done the hardest thing and the rest is not easy, but easier. good luck and Chin Up!
