I suffer from depression and my last episode has meant I have gained a lot of weight, due mostly to not wanting to leave the house. I have found this site and hoping it will help me get back on track ☺
Overweight and depressed, not a good c... - Weight Loss Support
Overweight and depressed, not a good combination!!

Hello! I'm sure one of the admin team will be along shortly with one of their lovely welcome messages!
This is a really great forum, you'll find lots of motivation and encouragement for your weight loss journey - have you downloaded the NHS 12 week weight loss plan yet? It's a good place to start!
Me too, Phoenix2504. I have been beset with depression and anxiety for years, and my current episode has now lasted eight months. I joined this forum just under a month ago, and so far have managed to stay on track - dry January, plus smaller portions and avoiding processed foods where possible. Can't pretend it's easy, but I think that if I tackle my weight problem, I may be more able to deal with other issues - who knows?! However, I do know that if I add overeating and overdrinking to my life, it results in even more self-loathing and plummeting self esteem, so I'm now trying to lose weight and see what happens. I will be weighing myself tomorrow for the first time since I started, so watch this space! I think weighing once a month is better - you won't get demoralised by small losses! The feeling of being in control of eating does help - it's almost like not punishing your body any longer. So good luck, and get yourself a good support system, (hopefully supportive friends and family) and don't beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon from time to time. Note to self: take your own advice! 😜
Good luck Phoenix. I struggle to get out to. Not been in the garden for a while. I hope to change this. Happy days ahead. G
Hello Phoenix2504 and welcome to the weight loss forum. Depression is a daily battle 😕 I hope you support from family and friends.
With regards to the forum, take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
Best wishes
Anna
Just take it one day at a time Phoenix, it's all we can do. Any day that you can find the energy to focus on eating well is a good day, so I wish you lots of good days. The good days will stack up to outweigh the bad days, in time, and your efforts will be rewarded. Good luck. x
