We have an administrator as the 'pinned posts' have been updated I've contacted tech support to inform them I no longer require temporary access as we obviously have a new administrator who will be taking things forward - brilliant
Thanks IndigoBlue61 , RobLandsdown91 also thought this a possibility and suggested I contact the 'help desk' - which I've done. If it was them, I've asked if they are also prepared to give out badges etc. How's that dress fitting by the way?
That's good you've contacted the help desk ☺ with regards new people in as administration, from what I read each person needs to "apply". Hopefully we will hear soon. ☺
Not dared try my wedding dress, hoping to lose Christmas gain quickly ☺
Have you tried PMing the Editor? Presumably he must be aware what's going on?
• in reply to
Yip, tried that - don't think he's been active in over two years?
• in reply to
Really?? How is he listed as the Editor then?
This whole situation is soooo odd!

That's just his username He writes (used to write?) for NHS Choices...
Do we have an action plan? If Hidden hasn't heard back by 5pm perhaps we should get a core group who are prepared to be admin and start the ball rolling.
I doubt that Hidden , they just aren't doing their job properly. It's great that we've all pulled together - a real community spirit- however out of courtesy, somebody from HU should let us all know what is going to happen.
What actually needs doing now?
The weigh-in is now sorted for the time being and lots of us are responding to Newbies as and when we can. We need someone to be able to hand out badges. Would you be up for doing that Hidden if they grant you admin privileges?
Do you think we should just leave it a few more days?

We only require admin to be able to:
1. give out badges (these could be scrapped but I think they are worthwhile) - two people could do this between them? (so far I know of two people requiring badges but there might be more)
2. Pin/unpin posts (we'll want to do this for weekly for weigh-ins and when/if we have any challenges starting/finishing) I reckon - 10 minutes work per week (MAX!) - I'm happy to do that but I'm away a lot so would need someone to step in - I don't do technology on holiday.
Everything else is shared across the community, weigh-ins, responding to posts, setting up challenges and reporting posts that don't comply (so far there are very few of these).
Also general forum 'housekeeping' and most importantly people who can keep an eye on posts in case of misdemeanors 😕 I think it needs several people, with decent computer knowledge really, lowcal was great at finding links to NHS advice pages for other health issues etc.
I have a list here of people asking for badges, about 15 so far. ☺I agree these are really popular ☺
My suggestion would be to wait until the end of the week and see if there's any response from HU, then if nothing happens, we nominate a group of people to do these jobs and get everyone to vote on it.
Then those people could write to HU and explain why they would like or need administrators' rights.
What do you think?
Just in...a response from HU.
Thank you for getting in touch with us regarding the Weight Loss community.
I want to assure you that HealthUnlocked is currently overseeing the moderation of the community. Therefore, any urgent action that needs to be taken, will be carried out by HealthUnlocked. We may need to assign some admin badges in the future, but we cannot assign 10 admins at once. From our own experience, it may result in conflicts or create chaos in the community which takes away from the fantastic support that is offered here.
There has been a huge amount of support from users to ensure the community remains a welcoming and brilliant community with lots of engagement and support from all users. For this, we would like to say thank you and to assure you that we know the community is very important to users so we will make sure each decision is carried out carefully and with users best interests at heart.
Maybe IndigoBlue61 you can give Hidden your list of people that need badges and this can be forwarded on?
The "about" section needs to be updated too.

What might be useful is if I forward this thread to Laura - then she can see what's what?
The 'Welcome Newbies' post needs to be updated also...

Yes I think that would be a really good idea.
I might put a new post up with this thread in it. Sometimes, not all the posts get seen once they've been read once and people don't always see the updated comments.
Angusina - I think that would be a good idea. There are a lot of new people, as one might expect at this time of year, coming on to the Forum. We have a good group of enthusiastic people who would like to work together to help at the moment.
This all looks good, great that HU are sorting things out. That gives everyone a breathing space after this hectic week since Xmas! It's good that they appreciate how valued and important this forum is.
