Hi. You will lose weight if you take in less calories than your body uses. People say you need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose a lb. so if the recipes are low in calorie then you will be fine.
Slimming world recipes are a good place to start with healthier eating and home cooking. They help to teach you how everything should be cooked (using lean meats only, no oil, avoiding pastry and bread etc.) if this will be enough to help you lose weight it's hard to say. It probably isn't enough on its own, though it depends how you currently eat and cook.
slimming world is about following a whole plan, sticking to a certain amount of dairy and bread/cereal/fibre products while limiting your "treats" to 15 "syns" or less a day.
If you currently use a lot of oil, fatty meats, pastry and dairy in your cooking then that'll be the biggest change for you and might have enough of an impact to help towards some weight loss if you're ONLY eating things out of the recipe book for breakfast, lunch and dinner then that would be more likely to work as it would keep you on plan but I'm not sure you would get your daily need of dairy and fibre from most of them.
Sorry if this isn't helpful! If all else fails there's no harm in trying it for a week and seeing what it does!
Slimming world would be a good start just cut down on bread, pasta and rice. Also calculate your resting metabolic rate and then make sure you you aim to be in calorific deficit. So if your RMR = 2000 calories a day then in order to lose weight you would need to consume less than this. If you do a lot of physical activity then obviously this figure could be higher but I tend to ignore this. Weigh everything and calculate your daily calorie intake and no cheating!
