When I have a snack idea...

Well today went to the gym for my walk. Went to the grocery store and bought 3 bags of rice cakes and bought peanut butter. At midday I ate an whole bag of rice cakes plus some peanut butter instead of one rice cake and bit of peanut butter just to curve my hunger before my supper meal . So I am wondering if anybody has any ideas how I can eat just a small serving enough to take away hunger and leave the rest alone and not buy extras . Maybe I should be eating another kind of snack? I am very seriously thinking of lowering my carbs after Christmas/boxing day. I am a discouraged and I would love your suggestions. Unfortunately I have a large appetite and believe it will take at least a month for my stomach to shrink.

How do you feel about things like bananas and apples? I find I'm unlikely to have an apple and then finish the rest of the fruit bowl afterwards. (Although even if I did it wouldn't do as much damage as if I did the same with some other snacks!). You can make fruit more interesting by cutting it up nicely. E.g. I'm really enjoying sharon fruit at the moment. I cut it into eighths and eat each bit slowly. Bananas are great for energy, and can be sliced, mashed, even toasted. Or if you really crave rice cakes can you just buy one small bag of a flavoured rice cake snack like snack a jacks, around 100cals/bag (although not very filling...). Try to find things you can just get a small portion of one at a time, and only take the correct money for it when you go to the shop... or things that are less enticing to go back for seconds :)

Rice cakes are not so bad but every time I buy peanut butter telling myself I'll only eat it in moderation this time, it goes pear shaped about half way down the bottle and my mind set goes to,' better clear this up and then not buy any more' so, better not to buy it at all. If you have a sweet tooth like me: I keep little snack packs of raisins, not too ruinous you can make them last a while, and they fill the sugary need.

For some reason, dividing up into portions works for me. I'll bring home a bag of rice cakes, and divide them into baggies with 2 in each. Measure out the peanut butter, and slice an apple... dress the place, leave the kitchen and eat consciously - enjoying every bite!

I like adding the piece of apple to the rice cakes/ peanut butter. That added apple would help fill me up better. And couple of others mentioned fruit too. And do the measuring as well. I am getting great ideas!!.
