Hi everyone. Hope you're all well this evening. So my name's Gemma and I'm new around here! I've been doing slimming world for ages nowith and not really lost anything. I've stopped and rejoined so many times now that I think I'm just a bit bored of it and looking for something newe. I'm hoping the NHS eating plan will help me!

Hi and welcome, Gemma :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread.

Look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have. Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the Monday Group weigh-in. If you follow Zest and myself, you'll be notified when we post the threads. The latest weigh-in thread can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page and remains open until 6pm on Fridays.

Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration.

Wishing you all the very best as you continue your journey to health and happiness :)

Hello jimjam87. I have found the NHS plan very effective. I hope you have success 😀

Hello Gemma and welcome to the forum.

Although SW may not have worked in the way you’d hoped it would, the NHS 12 Week Program doesn’t rely upon the complicated red/green days (or whatever SW advocates nowadays), preferring to advocate the importance of understanding your minimum and maximum calorie allowances instead (also known as BMR & TDEE), as well as recommending the kind of foods that assist in the management of weight.

Moreover, by knowing your numbers from the outset (BMR/TDEE), in addition to relying upon the help, support and encouragement that the forum provides, you can and will achieve your goal, Gemma.

Best of all, there’s no need to pay a weekly fee for the above.

As moreless has already suggested, check out the Pinned Post Sections, in addition to participating in the weekly weigh-in, since the forum truly is a place without judgement.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions either. When it comes to weight loss and improving levels of fitness, no question is too silly.

Welcome!! I much prefer this to slimming world. I prefer the no nonsense approach to calorie counting, and being accountable for everything you put in your mouth. Also, I feel like part of a network that's here for me all the time. I read everyone's posts, comment of things and just generally feel connected and reminded all the time that I am making a healthy life change. Every day, not just once a week. Wish you the best of luck.

Thank you. I definitely get that feeling already, I feel like there'll always be someone here for support when I need it.

Hiya, haven't been here for a while myself, I too have been following slimming world and yesterday looking back in my book realised that I am exactly the same weight I was a year ago! I spoke to my consultant who basically said "well you know it works, you know what you have to do, if you hadn't been coming then you could have been even heavier" then swiftly moved on to praise a new member who had lost 7lb in their first week! Not exactly what I was hoping to hear. So today I have decided to give the calorie counting a go and commit to logging on here each day to see how others are getting on. Good luck Jimjam87, I shall follow your progress with interest.

Oh that's so not what you want to hear! I've found that the members doing well get loads of support and those struggling are kind of left to it...maybe that's just my group though. I've got 4 weeks left on a count down I bought so I'm going to do calories but go and get weighed there for now.

Thank you, good luck to you too! x
