Hello This is my first day on the road to a new healthy me. I'm going to try really hard to change my lifestyle. My main aim is to feel better. I want to start walking a little. I seriously need to cut down on wine. I'm going to weigh myself this week. wish me luck, I will find it hard.

Please do read our Welcome Newbie post, if you want to familiarise yourself with things that other members have found helpful - it's a really motivating read and full of tips and suggestions too - as well as links to the NHS 12 week plan, which I'd recommend looking it, as it's really good.
Great that you're planning to start walking a little, and good luck with cutting down on your wine consumption too - please join us in the Monday group weigh-in if you want to - you'd be very welcome. I know you're intending to weigh later this week, but the Afternoon/Evening thread of the Monday group is open till 6pm on Friday, so you could do it any day before then - so do join us if you'd like to. Hi and welcome I can see our admin lady Lowcal has pointed you in the right direction so just to say hello from me too.
As the old saying goes nothing worth having ever comes easy but with the help from the forum the journey isn't so bad.
If you want to up your walking there are lots of You Tube videos to walk along to I use Leslie Sansomes walk a mile and happy mile walk I even do it in my PJ's before getting dressed try it you don't have to finish each one do as much as you can and build on it.
Give yourself small goals to aim for maybe join the winter solstice challenge see the pinned posts section. Slow and steady wins the race and the 12 week plan is easy to follow and download we are not 'dieting' but changing our lifestyle for the good.

Good luck Gro123 - walking is brilliant for weight loss and easy too. And wine - give yourself a break, allow yourself one week free of wine or even every other day! I too find it so easy to help myself to a glass, but I've lost weight not doing so and I don't want the wine to spoil this progress. If you want it, weight loss is there for the taking.

Thank you everyone for you support. It really is good to hear from everyone. I've just been for my swim, that's my exercise for today. I've eaten healthy, and I must say I feel really tired at the moment. I think it's going to take sometime before I feel more energetic. Tomorrow is my first walking day. Looking forward to that .
Morning everyone. I'm through my first week and feeling fantastic. I've stuck to my plan. As I told you all, my biggest downfall was wine, followed by crisps & nuts. Well I'm proud to say that I have not had any of these at all. I have done a lot of home made cooking instead of eating out so that I knew exactly what I was eating and how it had been cooked. I have enjoyed all my food this week and feel that my taste buds have changed a great deal. Planning my meals and looking for healthy options has been really interesting. Most of all the forum has been a great help to me so thanks to everyone for the support. I'm now looking forward to my second week and will be weighing in tomorrow for the first time. Good luck everyone
