Enjoy the forum, and wishing you success with your goals.

Welcome back a brilliant first step. Many of us are using calorie counting on my fitness pal. To be honest I had being doing that for 3 years before joking the forum. Losing a bit putting it back in. In 13 weeks here I have lost 10 Lbs, my biggest loss for 3 years. Stick with the forum, their support is amazing.
Welcome back π Good luck and very best wishes π Remember, we are all here for you, cheering you on from the sidelines ππππ
Hi Wheelo,
I also want to lose 3 stone starting from today and have written large messages placing them on my fridge, in my bathroom and bedroom which simply states 'JUST DO IT!' π
We can do it !!
Hi I'm a newbie too x started sat. Got 3 stone to lose also. Good luck xx
Hi I have found that adjusting my eating is no cake, biscuits, ice cream etc is the best thing I have done.
The next is eating smaller portions of healthy foods.
If you feel hungry and are tempted to snack have a glass of water or carrot sticks, apple any fruit with least sugar.
Try keeping active if like me your unable to exercise or if you can join a class.
Whatever is best for yourself is what I find works for me.
So be positive, motivated, and above all be happy
Good luck
Lottie π
Love your post Lottie it makes what to me seems a huge task seem so much easier It is cutting out those things and smaller healthy portions isnt it
Really as they say "its not rocket science" but it seems so daunting I'm going to follow your example with the feeling hungry part and snacks I must admit I never think to drink water as I'm not keen on water but I think a green tea instead will be ok won't it ?
Thanks you've given me motivation to really get back on track I'd done well then seem to have come to a standstill with my weight and was considering Slimming World but I really don't want to do that So I'm re starting today and my goal is Christmas I'm going to look through catalogues for the perfect little black cut out the photo and put it on the fridge door !!
Have a lovely day xx
Hi Cat
I am so happy to know my words have given you encouragement.
Yes it is daunting the thought of doing without those things we like. It can also be confusing about what's best to eat.
Firstly I avoid low fat foods as it can mean more sugar. I always check fat and sugar content.
I've drank skimmed milk for years, use fat reduced cheese, only eat chicken and fish maybe lean bacon.
I should be slim lol but it's the chocolate and cakes and I enjoy baking. It is also easier for me as my husband put weight on so he's eating less and he's lost a pound a weekπ
Sometimes depending on personal taste we just cannot eat some healthy things because we simply don't like it.
I only drink water tea or coffee and yes green tea is great. I take a bottle of water with me everywhere I go. I used filtered tap water.
I use spinach as much as possible and throw it in a casserole or pasta sauce etc, it's a good leaflet green to eat.
I no longer eat much bread and its usually only sainsburys flat breads much lighter on tum.
I use Wholemeal pasta and whole grain rice. I make a lot of my own sauces as you know what's in them.
I never have fizzy drinks of any kind or squash/cordial it's always been my personal taste for years now. Neither do I drink alcohol because of it no longer agreeing with my tumπ I do miss a glass of wine or vodka.
So I think if we are motivated we can all find our way through this food jungle and achieve what is best for each of us to lose some weight. It is down to personal taste.
It's not easy but achievable if we get the right mind set.
I totally agree with you about slimming world.....waste of time and money.
Here it's free and loads of supportπ
So keep busy and think of that dress

Ps keep in touch let me know how your doing
Hello Lottie thanks for all your info I am doing most of the same skimmed milk no bread etc Its so annoying that everything really tasty and yummy is fattening isn't it I have to be sooo strong when going down the chocolate aisle on the supermarket I've been very good for a while now but I love chocolate
I was very surprised to hear about low fat yoghurt there was a lady in the radio talking about how much sugar was in them
I love getting all th stops from the forum so thanks again
Yes will keep in touch

Good morning Lottie I just wanted to thank you I have been taking your advice and each day my scales are going down We have just bought some new ones and they are in kilogrammes and each day the reading goes down little by little and I'm over the moon In the afternoon I always get to about 4 and have craving for sweet things and a cup of tea I managed to satisfy it with 2 Rich Tea biscuits but then after your words this week I had 2 cups of green tea instead I don't crave a biscuit with it and I find 2 cups really makes me feel full until dinner at 6 I'm thrilled to bits as Ive gone from 92.7 to 90.3 thanks to you Still a long way to go but I'm so happy
Thank you and have a lovely weekend
Sheila xx
Hi Sheila
Thank you for that lovely message.
Yes I can agree with the 4pm craving and I know myself having a cuppa means also cake or biscuit.
Once we adjust that we save consuming so many calories.
Green tea is definitely the best drink as I could not have cake or biscuit with it.
I like red bush tea too and find that refreshing and its good to drink to avoid those cravings. Drinking tea or coffee definitely does not help if your craving.
It's great to hear the scales are going down, no matter how little as long as it's down. Of course we all eventually hit that wall when we plateau and don't lose but it's then we may need to give our eating a tweak.
Do you exercise?
Unfortunately that is my downfall, but I have been more active since starting this as I have felt better and motivated.
So if you carry on what your doing you will have a good weigh in on Monday.
I have tried a new dress and top on that are away never worn because they were too tight. I can now get into them and wear them and that's with a 10lb loss.
So I was over the moon as I can wear them this winter and it keeps me motivated.
I've also got a never worn dress a size less than I wear now and that's my goal to get into that this winter.
So we both have our goals and its the dressπof course it's being healthier too, but I realise just how better I feel with my loss so far. I don't hate looking in the mirror quite as I did before this loss.
It proves having weight on can cause an array of issues.
So enjoy your weekend and keep the motivation goingππππππ
Lottie xx
That's brilliant news you have lost loads and to fit into clothes that were too tight is fantastic
I so agree a normal cup of tea just cries out for a nice piece of cake or biscuits at that time of day but green tea no
It really makes me feel full too Its funny I have a mid morning cup of coffee without anything quite happily
I used to exercise I walked 30 mins every morning and went to Tai Chi once a week but I've had an awful year At the end of February I had terrible chest pains and my doctor rushed me into hospital I had to see a cardiologist then wait for an angiogram and was a bit scared to do much I finally got the results mid May I've a type of angina Then at the end of May I had the most excruciating pains in my left hip and lower back and literally couldn't do a thing I've spent the summer waiting for an MRI steroid injections and now I'm getting physio I'm at last starting to feel better but the whole year is one I'd rather forget!! π
It's made me appreciate things though Our youngest son gets married next July so that's my goal I have 1 stone 4 lbs to the weight Id like to be and I really feel I can do it now
Strictly on now so will put my feet up been to the coast and managed a nice walk so I'm over the moon
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and thanks again I know I wouldn't have done it without this lovely forum and all the kind people on it π

Hi Sheila
Oh dear you have had a bad year, and your doing the right thing as any weight loss helps our health.
Unfortunately when we are unwell the waiting lists are awful and getting tests and results is a waiting game.
My husband has been through it for 15 months now trying to get to the bottom of his problems with his spine and walking. He's now got an appointment with a neurologist on Weds. It has had such an impact on our lives.
Anyway hope you had a nice weekend. I enjoy strictly too.
Take care
Lottie xx
Hello Lottie yes the waiting has been awful but so glad I'm getting help at last
I'm sorry to hear that your husband has trouble with his spine and walking he certainly has my sympathy
It must be a massive impact on your life health is more important than anything isn't it
I do hope he gets some answers and help
Love Sheila x

Just one pound this week and it does leg off after a few weeks but I'm delighted it's a loss, every ounce counts.
