Does anyone recognise the ' I'll start tomorrow' cycle?
I'm in the depths of that, since I joined a few days ago I have started everyday with great intentions but have yet to make to the end a day without succumbing to temptation.
Despite having gone to the gym this morning, and walked my dogs for a good half hour, almost melting in this horrendous humidity, I still could not control my craving for junk food, and ended up eating a fat loaded Chinese meal for dinner. π
Will power, motivation, self control, why have you forsaken me.....yet again?

That cycle got me all the way to almost 20st, so I hope your tomorrow arrives sooner than mine did!
Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread, it has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a guide to healthy living, rather that a specific diet plan.
Look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have.
Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.
Join us for the monday group weigh-in. If you follow Zest and myself, you'll be notified when we post the threads. However, the latest thread can always be found in the events section, to the right of the home page.
Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration
Oh yes! Been there many many times. I think it does take a while to change habits and for your body and palate to adjust to eating different foods, so give yourself a chance! I've been on here a few weeks and have had a few 'wobbly' moments! Just draw a line under them and keep going! And don't forget it is ok to have an occasional treat. You can do it!
I'm here because I realised I was using up my supply of tomorrows and I had to do something to help myself.
I am only three days in but logging my food, coffee and water intake is making me realise what I have been doing wrong and that I need to take control.
I still love food and that's not going to change but my portion control was dreadful and that's got to change. Maybe you could include carefully controlled portions of your favourite foods into an otherwise healthy diet so you still get the 'hit' but in a way you can manage?
All that exercise sounds great - give yourself credit for what you are doing!
Doesn't sound crazy at all. It tasted so good you want to eat more - that's completely logical!
I'm using an app where I can log food (as well as other things) and I'm seeing it all mount up. That's definately helping! I was at a conference today and deliberately went for the fruit salad at lunch because I couldn't bear to see what the creme brule (that I wanted) would look like on my stats!
What I meant by wanting to eat more, is I did the slimfast plan a few months ago, just for a week, with that level of control I lost 10lb in a week, there was no real food involved until the evening meal, and it's as though the lack of taste, suppressed my hunger, as nothing stimulated my taste buds if that makes sense?
Anyway, slimfast is not a long term option, far too unhealthy.
Look at finding something to boost your motivation? Mine was to get back into horse-riding. Some people focus on a holiday or milestone birthday; you need a reason at the back of your mind to say no to temptation.
Book yourself a tennis lesson or a spa weekend perhaps, and promise yourself you will be a stone lighter by the time it comes around (allow a couple of months) - it is so much easier to keep track of the calories if there is a date on the calendar to work towards. Well done on the exercise effort; that all helps!
I agree with the suggestions above, especially what DartmoorDumpling says! Another idea I have is to do weekly checkins with yourself and have weekly goals. For example, you could post on the weekly weighin thread every Monday. The weighin thread really helps me be accountable for my actions 24/7.
This means you can visualise your weightloss on a weekly basis, not day-to-day. Your actions throughout the week will influence your weekly weighin, so you don't have the 'tomorrow is another day' excuse.
I think most of us are on here because of a similar cycle π’
What works for me is eating more, earlier in the day. So many times I would either skip breakfast or have very low calorie, then ryvitas and salad for lunch - feeling very pleased but empty π By 4 o click I would be quite hungry and either start on the sweet stuff or manage to wait until dinner then, being completely ravenous, lose control and mega pig out π’π’π’
These days I eat a good healthy low gi breakfast, (usually porrige or toast and egg) which gets me through to a decent lunch (with protein and carbs) about 1-2 ish. I plan a nutritious but slightly lighter evening meal 6-7 ish with enough calories saved for evening snack. π
I really hope sone of these comments help, we have all been there at some stage π
