After a very busy bank holiday weekend, which went smoothly but left us exhausted; have now crashed with a head cold and a need to be nice to myself for a while.
Treated myself to a portion of Apple and Blackberry Crumble with custard yesterday and later a few squares of chocolate which made me feel better - but must remember not to use food as a pick-me-up!
I have always turned to food when feeling tired or ill, and I always feel better afterwards, but it does go straight to the wobbly belly, so need to find other ways, such as hot drinks and soups perhaps.
I ignored the need to laze around yesterday afternoon in my spare time, and went up to the farm to enjoy the glorious sunshine, and a ride on Milly the mare. She was in a lovely friendly mood (not always like that) and we even braved a little canter when she gently loped up the hill - came back home feeling so much better. Animals are definitely the answer to all our woes!

Well done getting out into the fresh air in the afternoon. Not easy when you feel yuck but you are away from all the bugs. I think you earned a ride on Milly after your busy bank holiday. Hope you are feeling a bit better today. Xx
DD hope your feeling better soon. I suppose we are brought up with sayings like "feed a cold starve a fever"and "strength goes in at the mouth"
Hi, hope you are feeling a bit better. I agree that the great outdoors and animals lift our spirits no end, so well done for making the effort even though you are under the weather. Those low calorie hot chocolate drinks satisfy and comfort my cravings and I always turn to tomato soup when I feel poorly.
Apple and blackberry crumble is delicious. I made one the other day using xylitol and low fat spread. It tasted really nice. Had it with sugar free custard. Mmmmm!
Glad Milly is doing well. Animals are such great pick-me-ups. Brilliant that you are still doing the riding. 🐴
