How many calories?

I know now I don't eat enough, MFP says I need to eat 1200 calories a day , but I worked out that I need 1311 BMR. Can someone confirm this is correct please? Or am I over thinking this?

Hi Bobbivee,

Have you used the NHS BMI calculator to get your recommended calorie range? I would suggest seeing what the range is from that tool, as it is really good:

nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...

It will take account of your personal details and activity levels etc to give you a personalised range.

I hope it's helpful.

Thanks Low cal. It's giving me a range of 1363-1752 so I'll have to find an app where I can put those figures in as MFP won't let me change from 1200. Many thanks xx

Hi Bobbivee,

Maybe have a look at the poll about the apps people use - it's the most recent poll that was done. Let me know if you can't find it, and I can give you a link to it.

I still use MFP, but I just disregard their calorie recommendation. It still works well.

Hi Bobbievee, I think MFP automatically inserts 1200 for everyone, however it is possible to amend it manually.

Click on Menu, then choose Goals. Under Nutrition Goals you should see option for Calorie and Macronutrition Goals. Click on it and your default goals are displayed. Click on Calories at top and a calculator pad should appear so you can manually input recommendation from NHS site.

Above are the steps I need to follow on my phone, if you login via laptop, hopefully it might be similar.

Hope this helps x

I have been using MFP for the past couple of weeks and mine is also at 1200 cal per day because I chose a more sedentary activity level (I sit in an office for most of the day) but when I add exercise manually or connect my Garmin watch it adjusts this amount accordingly.

Not sure if this helps?

Yes it does thank you. I've changed it now but I'm easy confused ! X
