Tips for us oldies - how to cope with slowing metabolism
Thanks for posting that, its an interesting article. I note it says that the BMI recommended for older people is 25-27 but it doesn't say how old is old.
I haven't got MFP so couldn't read it. I'm finding the weight loss slow, I'm 59, but I am losing and I hope to keep it off too, but agree it does seem to take more effort.
Very informative, thank you.
Very informative,
But at 28 years I am not that old . haahaa.... Just joke
but I always like to read good stuff. Its always beneficial to get knowledge about from anywhere.
Thanks.
Very interesting thanks for sharing
Thanks Ellie, it means there's hope for me yet!
Just thought I'd let you know Moorless the sports bra arrived today and thanks for putting the link on so I could order it.
Yes it fits but OMG I know now what you meant when you said they are supposed to be tight I must have lost 1lb getting into the damm thing but you are right nothing certainly moves. So thanks for that I can now start to run. Oh my poor ankles!!! 🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
Excellent news Bev! I hope you're going to post your progress on the running challenge thread
You can do this and you'll have so much fun!
Ok I start tomorrow, indoor treadmill to start then out doors when the confidence builds when ever that will be. LOL!!!😊😊😊
Have you downloaded the C25K app? Using a treadmill to start off is a great idea and you can build up to running outdoors. You can be like me and run at the crack of dawn, when there's no-one about to see you
Good luck, I can't wait to hear how you get on
No I will get my daughter to sort me out when she gets back as I am useless with computers once the app is on my I pad do I just record my progress on that?
Wouldn't matter what time I got up there's always someone around here. I could go on the forest 5 mins walk away which has been done fantastically since the mines closed but I wouldn't dare go alone I know last year there was someone living rough there so treadmill for a while I think.
I thought the advice about strength training was a great reminder for me. I am using a 6kg kettlebell twice or three times a week. I do this at home first thing in the morning and open the doors to cool me down.
I find it suits me and I am nearly ready to go up to 8kg. I use the Kettlecise women's DVD with the volume turned off and a podcast or radio on.
I need regular reminders of the benefits of exercise to keep me going as it's so easy to skip.I have to make that positive choice to do the right thing and find patterns of my day which work best for me. KB
