Hi Thenunn,

I would personally recommend going for the higher number of the range, or varying between it - although it sounds high, it is based on your personal stats and activity levels, and this range will alter as you lose weight.

Have you seen our Welcome Newbie post as well? It's in the Pinned posts area - top right-hand-side of the homepage.

yes you see every other calorie site like the one above says 1270- 1500

but nhs one says 1576-1720 !!!!! I think I will probably stick with 1300 :)

I totally agree thenunn, it gives me 1550-1987 which I know I would not lose weight on.

I decided to go with 1400, as it was in the middle of the 0.5-1kg a week weight lose range and seemed achievable.

Good luck with your weight loss journey. Ive lost nearly 2 stone in 12 weeks with the calorie counting!!

I guess it depends on body composition and activity. I cover 20km a day and do weight training most days so I find 1500 fine and hard to stay that low.

wow yes you're very active ..sounds like the old me :) sadly i have mobility problems that limit what i can do ,so my activity is low ,which is why I stay around 1300 max.

I sorry to hear that. I know I'm lucky and it won't last forever. X

I agree it sounds high, but why not give 1500 a try for just on experimental week to see if it is in fact too high for you to lose weight? Many in this forum are losing (a lot of) weight using the calorie limits given by that calculator, but you need to find out what the right level is for you. If it is too high to lose weight, you lower it of course 👍
