Hello, I had the gastric sleeve about a year ago, and on top of dieting, I have been hitting the gym more. For the past few months, I've been going to the gym daily and starting to go harder as well. I'm currently 6' 1" 285 and have been averaging around 1800 a day. My question is, with me now going to the gym daily and working out harder, should I increase this?

Question about calories
Hello and welcome to our friendly and supportive forum. Here is a link to help you find your way aroundhealthunlocked.com/weight-l....
Do have a good look around and read all the links. It sounds like you are not eating enough. 1800 calories is not enough for a man of your height and weight especially if you are doing a lot of exercise.
You might find an exercise app would help you to work out a realistic calorie range. You can download them onto your phone. Some link to a fitness tracker.
As you have had gastric surgery it would be a good idea to talk to your GP or a dietician to work out a realistic diet plan as we cannot advise you as we do not have experience or medical knowledge.
Do keep coming back and chatting and joining in and you will get lots of support .
I feel making such an effort I would seek nutritional advice . It’s not just the calories but the macros and nutrients in them and how you can heal internally with the right foods . Don’t forget to discuss drinks too - how much water and when etc . If it was me a one off session would be enough but my first port of call would be my GP to get basics like blood pressure, cholesterol etc checked to ensure you are on the right track and that you don’t lack essential minerals etc . You seem so motivated so the final tweaks will just be a couple of appointments to tie loose ends .It is impossible for anyone to advice you who doesn’t know you as individually we all have our own needs and differences but you are doing fantastically well .
Your body should tell you if your not eating enough. If you need a snack make it fat (e.g. an avocado) or protein (e.g. meat or oily fish which could give you protein and fat). Keep off the refined carbs like sodas and energy drinks or bread, cakes, chocholate bars etc.
Good advice Eryl but my body always tells me its empty !
That's probably because you're eating carbs which raise your blood sugar which in turn affect your hormones increasing the intensity of hunger pangs
True but my main carbs come from porridge every morning which stops me snacking
Porrrrige for breakfast makes you want to snack by mid morning. youtu.be/bzXqoY7SKcw?si=HRH...
I have porridge made with water , whole fat plain Greek yogurt and fruit . Must be will power or routine but I never ever snack mid morning. I only drink water or fruit tea if thirsty as I have a manual job . My stamina according to runners - not me is good for my age as with little practice I ran 10k in just over 1.5 hours . It is later night eating which can be when I am hungry. During the day I don’t snack not in afternoon either but from this forum we are all different and some weight/ health issues are genetic.
Wow Eryl - Interesting . What do you eat then for breakfast as I don't fancy eggs every day either
I rarely eat breakfast. Getting most of my calories from fats I don't get severe hunger pangs. When I do eat before lunch it's usualy an avocado mid morning.
Thanks . I leave for work early morning in a fairly manual job so driving I feel I need something to eat . I think I could ditch porridge and have just the full fat plain Greek yogurt with some fruit but this oats video was an eye opener as porridge is generally known to be a healthier alternative .
Remember that if you're loosing weight you'll be getting extra calories from burning your own fat stores.
