Just wanted to post a progress update on my one year weight loss journey.
The photo on the left is the one that inadvertently started me off, although I wasn't aware of this at the time. For a long time I just could not look at this photo. It was taken awhile before I decided on a more healthy lifestyle. I was 12st 12lbs then.
A year ago I was 12st 6.5lbs. I was not making healthy lifestyle choices and usually walked the shortest route that I could get away with. I also had no concept of portion control and restricted my food choices and stuck to what I knew. This used to include a few bottles of Magners at the weekend topped off with several large bags of crisps and sweets most days of the week.
So a year on, what has changed? Currently 9st 11.75lbs in the photo on the right and a BMI of 24.4 in the Healthy weight range. I've become better at portion control and no longer restrict my food choices, also I am not afraid to try new things. This seems to have spilled out into other areas of my life too and constantly doing things I wouldn't 12 months ago.
I no longer take the shortest route anywhere and I am always looking to get extra opportunities to get exercise into my day. Last night I spent a good while on the dance floor, something I would have avoided a year ago. Probably due to the way I felt about my appearance.
The weight loss has been a fabulous boost not only to my health (I've managed to come off my Omeprazole completely) also to my confidence and wellbeing. On the days I do feel a bit rubbish, I find it easier and quicker to regain a good mood.
My target weight is 9st 0 lbs. I will review this when I get to the 9st 7lbs. I'll be happy if I get anywhere between these two numbers. So even if it takes me another 6 months or 12 months, I'm determined to get there.
