Things nobody tells you about losing weight...

While you've been losing, or once your reached your goal, what has surprised you along the way? There's a thread like this on the MFP community forum as its so inspiring and interesting too!

A few for me:

Coldness - no one told me how cold it would feel without all that warm fat! Last winter was my first at 14 stone instead of 18 and boy did I notice the cold. That's one of only two things I miss!

No one told me how uncomfy my bed would become! 😂 It is NOT comfortable sleeping on hip bones, even with mattress toppers and blankets to pad out what was only a year old mattress!

I didn't know how nice it would be to see collarbones, even now if ins myself sticking my fingers in the dips. Love them!

I didn't know my feet would shrink too! Who knew I had fat feet as well as the rest of me?! Have had to buy smaller sizes 👍🏻

What positive or negative things have surprised you?

How long have you got Osiris? ;)

My list is almost endless! :D

I can put my own socks and shoes on.

I can balance on one leg to get dressed.

I don't need a grab bar in the bathroom.

I can get in and out of the bath.

I can get up off the floor unaided.

I can put a towel around me and it wraps and fastens.

I can feel bones and muscles all over me.

I can walk without getting out of breath.

I can wear normal clothes and feel like a normal person.

I can cut my toenails.

I can run and cycle.

I don't get as sweaty as I used to, except when I'm running.

I'll stop there, before I bore you to tears, but honestly, everything is absolutely fab! :)

Great list moreless and I was ticking everyone of them as I read through it!

I would add to it :

No snoring!

Oh that was another good one. Towels seem to get bigger the more weight that comes off! 👍🏻

How very easy it is to put the weight back on if you go back to old habits

On the positive side

being able to walk and talk at the same time without losing my breath

Being able to wear clothes I like without looking lumpy and bumpy (tummy could still do with a bit of tightening)

Being able to sit on a bus seat without hanging over the edge (though this is rather dependent on the size of the person sitting next to me lol)

Being fitter I find if I get sore or aching muscles, a hot bath or at worst, a rest day, and I'm good as new!! It used to take me days to recover ! 😊

Agree about the cold, and shrinking feet! But love the new fitter and more agile me 😊
