Hi Peeps,
I have just read about Ramblers walks on the NHS website and then had a look at Ramblers. Is anyone a 'member' in this? I know it does not need membership but has anyone tried the group[ walks before? Can you recommend it?

It sounds like a great idea CBl, but when I searched for my area, I'd have to travel 50 miles to my nearest group walk!
Hopefully someone else will be able to answer your question and I'd be interested to know too
My partner and I used to organise walks for a local independent walking group when we lived in Surrey, (and sometimes we walked with members of the Ramblers). Some rambler groups have been going for quite a while and a lot of their members are very fit (and some are getting on in years) so our group was started up with a target age group of 35 - 55, more as a social group who walked a bit and talked a lot and often shared lunch in a pub! It was great fun.
Any group is a sum of its members and there are those who go for friendship, others who want the exercise - you just need to turn up on a day when the walk planned is not too strenuous and see how you get on?
You could of course always start up your own group - put a postcard in a local shop window with a time and place, take a friend or two for mutual support - and hey presto, you will have started a whole new life for yourself! Form a committee and take turns to plan the walks - we had holidays with our fellow walkers too. Do try it...
