Hi all, I'm 30 and trying to lose 15kg. I don't mind being overweight, buy my GP says it's needed because of high levels of cholesterol and also to balance my thyroid levels better. I have a hard time following diets/exercising, I'm so tired after work that I feel I don't have the energy to make the effort of sticking to it. All my friends/family (apart from my husband) live in a different country so don't have much incentive or help. Does anyone have any advice?

I could not just read and run,
So your Dr needs you to loose weight, great now it's time for you to work towards helping yourself
No 1, find how many calories you are allowed per day
No 2, plan Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, Snack, in that order
This is how I started on Monday, it did take a little working out as although I'm Retired I work two days a week in a charity shop, for free, I take my food and snacks with me.
Hello nathytm, should have said this sooner, sorry,
You energy levels will be low but honestly that's the time to just do something, if it's only grabbing you husband and dancing, or a chair and swing your legs in turn for about 5 minutes no more, then stop. I hope in some small way this will help, call me I will always chat, I love to chat. I do hope I have not upset you in anyway, that was not my intention.
Hi Nathytm and welcome to this very friendly forum 😀
I've been following the nhs12wk plan and am in the last wk. I've lost over a stone. Very happy 😃 I see this as a chance to change my eating and exercise habits for life.
Your doctor has advised you to loose weight for your health while you're young and don't have any major issues.
If you can please read the plan and get help and support from this forum as it has really helped me.
Just little changes help, cutting sugar, smaller portions, drinking more water, watching your calorie intake (go up to ur recommended limit), move more even just a little walk, take the stairs or do a gentle keep fit dvd a couple of times a wk.
I hate exercise too but have found the more I've done the better I've felt and actually look forward to it. I exercise rather than watch TV in the evening after putting the kids to bed 😄
You don't have to deprive yourself of what you enjoy to eat although moderation is key!
Good luck if you want more information please message me.

Hi! Thanks for the replies!
I had a hard time finding my password to get here again and apologize for posting and disappearing.
On the bright side, I have been very good on counting my calories (and keeping under the limit!) and exercising. I've lost 1.3kg this past week, have gone running for 20 minutes every day.
Thanks for the support so far!
