Hi Everyone, I have just joined today as I feel as though I'm at a point of my life where I am totally out of control with food. I know the severe health risks attached to my eating and I need to do something about it. I am male, 48, 6ft 2, weighing 435 pounds. I have had 2 previous successful weight loss journeys where I have lost 10 stone then 11 stone. I used to work as a chef so I know about food. I just need some motivation and support to do this once again. Once I get started I absolutely know that I can do it. Finances are an issue. There are 4 adults in the household and our weekly food and toiletries budget is £60. This forum is a new start for me. I plan to read through everything tonight and begin this journey once again.

You have come to the right place my friend, not only will this website help you lose weight it will create a support network of people who will be there for you when ever you need some motivation or just a chat about what's on your mind!
You clearly already know how to lose the weight having successfully done it twice before, which I must say is an extraordinary achievement!, so you are in the best possible position to do it again. The good things about this forum and the 12 week NHS plan if you are following it is it isn't a diet as such its all the tools you need to change your entire lifestyle and your attitude towards food so that you don't put the weight back on again!
We are all friends here and will provide you with all the emotional support you need so share as much or as little as you like and there will always be someone to offer you some words of advice or encouragement or give you a pat on the back when your back on track.
Keep your health in mind and do the best you can to change and lose weight!
Good Luck,
Kayleigh
P.S. I'm sure the administrators will comment soon and give you the low down on where all the resources are etc. they are fantastic!
Yeah im going to give The 12 week plan a go. If I have an almost regimented routine and can start walking again then that will make a huge difference. I'm not going to set unrealistic targets but just take it a week at a time. Thanks for your encouraging words
This is definitely the place to come for motivation and support. People I know laugh at me because I'm like a walking calorie counter. I know what to do to lose weight, it's just that will power and motivation that's needed and I struggle with. I really feel that if I was having a wobble, I'd know to come straight here and these fab people who are in the same boat would get me back on track. I haven't wobbled yet (I'm only 7 weeks in) but I know I've got this amazing support network behind me here. I hope you feel this encouragement and motivation too. We're all behind you and will help if and when you need it. You can do it!!! 😀
Thank you and well done for your 7 weeks. That's a great achievement I used to compare my weight loss to blocks of butter. It's incredible when you see it stacked up although the assistant in Asda wasn't too chuffed putting it back. I totally get what you mean with the walking calorie counter.
As has so eloquently been said before, you've come to exactly the right place. We know where you're coming from, because we've been there before! This is our last port of call, we will not go back, because we have each other
You've got a lot of reading to do and the best place to start, is the Pinned Posts section to the right of your screen. Start with the welcome newbie thread and go from there
In the events section, beneath the pinned posts section on the right of the home page, you'll find our monday group weigh-in thread. Please don't be put off by the title, because you'll be more than welcome today, or even tomorrow, if that's more convenient, as Zest doesn't complete the stats until later in the week. We are a friendly, non-judgemental and wholly supportive group, committed to the success of everyone's weight loss journey.
To get the full benefit of this forum, you need to be active on it. Throw yourself in whole-heartedly and you'll reap the rewards
There's not much else for me to say except all the very best to you and if you need any other help, just sing out!
Good for you - keep going - I really love my food and even more so my drink and know how hard it is and on here you get loads of support from great people and s chance to vent a bit about succes and failings - I wish you everything you need to succeed
You can do it, Kenny - I was totally out of control with my eating this time last year and I began the 12-week plan last September. Since then I have lost 6 stone (3 more to go) and I feel so much better.
Hi Kenny. Welcome to this forum. Everyone is so supportive and helpful I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me. Over the last 12 weeks I have really changed my eating habits and have been steadily losing about 1 to 2 pounds each week. I am hoping that the changes I have made will set me up to be able to maintain the weight loss. It's not easy but take each day at a time and bit by bit you will get there. Good luck to you and hope you can join in with the monday weigh in the reply from moreless. Sure you can do it
