Hi,
Turning to here out of desperation. Really need to kick start my diet. Have tried so many but want to try calorie counting which should fit in with my 'FitBit'. Any help and advice would be very gratefully received.
Hi,

I strongly recommend calorie counting I have never dieted before after watching my mum your diet for years they just make you miserable . My fitness app is a great tool to keep track of daily calorie intake and think about everything you eat is it really what you want ?select your food carefully your amazing treat yourself well xxx good luck and you will do it 🌞
Hi JosieB63.
I managed to lose a great deal of weight by simply reducing calorie intake, I never "dieted" as such, as I didn't cut out anything specifically and have so far lost about 42kg.
I have been using a FitBit but have been running an apple watch along side it for the past year and must say that the FitBit can be highly inaccurate when it comes to "calories burned" - just something to be vary of, mine seems to be out by about 10% which can make the difference between being allowed to eat 2000 calories or just 1600 calories...
Comparing weight loss vs what the devices are saying I should have been losing the watch seems closer to the truth than the FitBit.
But I'm sure you'll find a rhythm and get the hang of things.
Best of luck!
I have never dieted, and I refuse to do so now. I can see where dieting has done nothing but cause upset to people around me when dieting didn't work. Or did work initially, but wasn't sustainable and things went right back to where they were before. Only more so, if you see what I mean.
I decided that what I really needed was a lifestyle change. So rather than just losing weight (which is happening) I'm getting healthy. This means eating better and exercising more for an all around more streamlined me!
It helps me to think this way because I refuse to go back to where I was at the start in mid-January (15 stone). This isn't to say that I don't have my ups and downs, that's just life. But at least I'm on the path to feeling happy in myself. And indeed, I'm already please with my progress so far.
I can really recommend the 12 week plan on the NHS choices website. It gave me a starting point and advice on what I needed to be doing. And I could be sure it wasn't just some crazy, unsustainable fad diet either. So far I'm 33 lbs down and, even better, don't pant and puff my way everywhere.
Well done Vicky! You should be very proud of yourself. I started the twelve week plan yesterday and hope to be writing something similar to your post very soon. Keep up the good work. Bob X
I agree strongly with these posts, "dieting" or "doing without and feeling deprived" did not and still does not work for me, eating healthy foods is sensible portions IS working 😊 In other words a life long change for the better 😊 Good luck
Id highly recommend the NHS weight loss programme. No diet has ever worked for me, i've tried most of them. On the 5.2 diet my freinds told me i had to stop as i was so grouchy!!
Ive lost 5 kgs in the first 4 weeks of the nhs plan, which is 6% of my body weight.
Id also recommend upping you water intake, mine was terrible and i was always hungry. So now I always try to have a bottle of squash with me and it seems to keep it at bay and give me my sweet fix with no calories!
p.s good luck!
