Nothing like a dog to encourage you outside - mine have decided I should travel everywhere at a slow jog!Β  (Jack Russell X and a Lurcher) - I have to keep them on flexi-leads to keep the local livestock safe - so all the more exercise for me.Β  Your two will be sleeping like babies now no doubt!

Hi DartmoorDumpling,  I have a lurcher too and started jogging instead of walking. I then got shin splints (ouch) and read up about it. Seems I was not wearing the right shoes (my walking boots 😳) and running on too hard a surface, so I stopped that!! Sometimes exercise isn't that good for you ☺

Nothing like a lurcher to get you exercised is there!Β  In reality, I only jog down gentle slopes on flat surfaces!Β  My knees are not up to much of a run anymore - more of a fast walk - but the dogs would prefer to jog if I let them!Β  I agree that too much jarring on hard ground isΒ  not good for the joints, but a scramble up a hilly country path is excellent for your fitness (and the dogs sometimes assist with a bit of a pull, if they have their harnesses on).Β  The difficulty is training your dog to pull you uphill but not downhill....they are beginning to get the idea!

I read somewhere a brisk walk is better than jogging less impact on the knees! I'm building my distances up again at the moment following an illness/ operation, my dogs are senior now so can't go miles and miles but enjoyable all the same 😊

Sounds like a great first day Caz28  😊ButΒ why is it our dogs can run miles (and miles) and STILL have energy?? Lol πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
