Hi, I'm also in the same boat!

my eldest is 5 and youngest 18months, i have 5 stone 4lbs to lose to be within a healthy weight range.

i was recently in hospital sadly due to an ectopic pregnancy and that actually became a wake up call to do something about my weight so i can become a good example to my girls.

I started the plan on Thursday so not long, but I've been using my fitness pal to log my calorie in take. I'm sticking to 1200 as advised bt mfp although NHS plan does say 1400 for women.

Drink plenty of water I'm only just realising that a lot my hunger was in fact thirst.

Adding more salads to meals and I'm trying really hard to control portion sizes

I've also started doing the 30 day shred which i had great results from years ago.

I have also found coming on this forum when i feel like diving into junk food really helps especially when you are able to see how successful people have been on there weigh loss journeys.

good luck you can do it!

Hi kmj1,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS community forum.  I think there is some great suggestions in the Welcome Newbie post, which moreless  has put together:

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Just join in with anything that you fancy participating in, and hopefully you'll soon be losing your weight, and feeling fitter and healthier.  I'd recommend the NhS 12 week plan as a really good structure - and it's easy to follow.  Using an app alongside is ideal - I use Myfitnesspal, and find that really good.

We have a Monday group weigh-in too, so if you like the idea of that, then please do join us!

Have a great weekend and good luck!

Hi  I'm also trying to lose weight after my 2nd pregnancy. Its really hard i know. I have found it hard to keep motivated but this forum really helps and i keep a diary which really helps me out. My eldest is 4 & youngest 9 months. I have been following the 12 week plan & using my fitness pal like Lowcal says it does really work. Im on my 1st week. I'm also doing the 10 min exercises from the NHS website & they work, I'm feeling the difference already. My only advice would be to take things slowly if you haven't been exercising for a while, I learnt the hard way (really bad muscle pain) by taking on too much too soon. Drink plenty of water & eat lots of fruit and veg. Control your portion size & allow yourself a treat once in a while otherwise you will be tempted to eat more of that treat. Hope this helps & gd luck! :-)

I'm going to ask you why?   What did change health wise, more dietary during pregnancy, by finding the questions, we have the answers, as jaz21 says do follow the fruit and veg advice ,mand drink plenty of water based drinks.

Water based veg is great, band has less sugar than lots of fruits, plan snacks, I tend to avoid large sharing bags ( well there is only cat and I), and buy portion packs, keep 100 snacks in your handbag

I know from past experience how exhausting and stressful living with two small children can be - and it is probably a need to comfort eat, (not to mention finishing up children's left overs) which is adding to your problems.

You have to identify at what times of day you are inclined to eat or drink the wrong things, and plan to have something else to do, or some suitable low calorie snacks to hand as an alternative.

Try and take the children outside as much as you can when the weather is good, and even when it rains, you can go puddle jumping!  This will burn off calories pushing a pram around the park and wear out their excess high spirits so they will hopefully sleep earlier at night, giving you some valuable "me" time to relax in.
